i
i feel like these are gonna get asked so -
there are no penguins here you are thinking of the south pole
there arent polar bears either except for super far north (not where i live)
we do not all go dogsledding, barely any do. now its all snowmobiles but there is a dogsledding race called the ididerod
yes it does get really cold up north but in SE AK we barely get a lake frozen for longer than two weeks
where i live it barely snows in the winter, southeast is part of the tongass national rainforest (if you want look it up its very pretty)
up in the arctic circle it does get to 24 hr darkness in winter and 24 hr daylight in summer, from what ive heard it sucks (basically everyone in ak has seasonal depression but up there its really bad)
@rainydaybird
What do you like most about living in Alaska? :)
@SilentSerenityy
i love the nature and the connection everyone has to the land. i live on the coast so we have one side of town looking out at a lot of islands and one side closed in by mountains. the wildlife is also wonderful my favorites are deer(we are kind of overpopulated rn though) sea otters and humpback whales. i learned just today that the northern east coast does not have nearly the amount of eagles we have (i saw 6 yesterday)! at least half the population subsistence hunts gathers or fishes and nearly everyone goes hiking or boating of some sort.
