Sleeping Mat for the homeless:
Hi, all you wonderful crafters. I wanted to tell you about a new venture I am about to embark on. I hope to get some of you to try this. The weather is about to get cold, and so many homeless people have no home and they live on the streets. I saw this project on YouTube, and It is making sleeping mats for the homeless. For this project, you don’t have to spend any money; we will use our grocery plastic bags to crochet this mat and a number 13 crochet hook. You will need about 700 bags/ cut the tops and bottoms off of them, cut them into four pieces, and slip knot them into a chain.

Thanks so much. I think you are right. It helps the environment as well as provides something besides a cold ground for a homeless person and they can roll it up and carry it wherever they go.😊
@WorkingitThrough2 yup also easily stashable.
@RogueOne1983.
Thanks for your support on this project. I have started working on one. Not sure how it will turn out but I am going to do this and take the one I asked several people I do to one of the homeless shelters and donate it. As I get more and more bags I have asked everyone I know to save their bags for me.😄. The bags have been coming in faster than my project is going. In my sitting around time, I use it to fold and cut the bags connect them,😃 and make Pawn balls.

For me, making a plastic bag sleeping mat is an interesting way to repurpose materials while creating something useful for outdoor situations. I also like Thirty-One Bags & Totes for practical organization, with utility totes, backpacks, lunch bags, handbags, and storage solutions for everyday needs. For teachers looking for reliable organization, I’d consider them among the best Thirty One products for teachers to carry classroom supplies and personal essentials.
