what would be a good artistic stunt or challenge to do? I’ve thought about this for a while. I have some ideas but I’d like to see if I can get any inspiration from you all. Feel free to share your thoughts and feelings.

@faithfulCoconut848 I love looking at old Renaissance art. Have you heard of vanitas? That style is super intricate and detailed, and it looks really cool. Some of them have glass, too, so there’s plenty of things to try!

Maybe make paper puppets/decorations? It sounds a little weird to me when I recommend it but it's pretty fun lol

I was thinking of doing a blacklight room. Or something with masks.

@Thunderclouds3

Paper puppets are really cool! The short Gruff (youtube: Righteous Robot) is a cool example of paper puppets used for filming.

@faithfulCoconut848 have you ever tried to make a self-portrait? i find that to be very challenging.

I’ve heard this one artist say all art is a self portrait. I agree with him. Aside from that I don’t like to draw or paint people.

Take a picture of a different animal everyday for a year, then, resize them to very small jpgs. Then separate them by overall color, and create impressionistic or abstract image collage with all of them. 😁😁. You asked for challenging... This idea definitely qualifies!!

REPURPOSE BAD PAINT

My husband is a retiring house painter.  He recently cleaned out "his shop" (aka storage unit). I now have 25 or so  5-gallon buckets of old, frozen, smelly, bad paint that I would like out of my backyard.  He'll eventually bust a hole in the buckets to let the paint dry so he can throw it away...eventually.

Goal:  Save the planet and my sanity by coming up with ideas on how to repurpose the paint and save the 5-gallon buckets before he starts his "drying process".

Repurposing Idea #1 -  STEPPING STONES

NEEDED: Thoughts, Suggestions, Ideas for:

  • creative forms
  • repurposed additive - resurfacing yard rocks, broken tiles, broken glass
  • other ways to repurpose old paint (painting excluded)

@faithfulCoconut848

This sounds like a fun idea! What mediums and subjects do you usually work in? It could give some insight on how to change up the art process.

Graphite drawing, oil pastels. Im willing to learn more mediums. I usually like to draw animals, nature scenes. Dinosaurs are a big deal in my art. I just find it profoundly fascinating that our natural environment looked so different back then. It’s so trippy to me.

My immediate thought was creating a mixed media piece or experimenting with digital art!

I think it would be cool to take photos in different urban settings, then use different mediums to add dinosaurs interacting with the environment.

If its digital you can upload the photo to a drawing program and manipulate or digitally paint on top of it.

Outside of digital you can use transfer paper to get the photo on all sort of surfaces before mixing mediums for the dinosaurs 🦕

That’s actually a good idea. I’ve been itching to try some mixed media for a while.
