Check-In May 30, 2022
Hello, fellow life travelers of the Depression Support Subcomunnity!
I have just entered the Subcommunity team, this is my first time at this job...
So wish me luck! As a first step, I have taken the Monday check-ins.
Weekends are when we have more free time and fewer externally determined activities. It might be a significant time, when we can more fully express ourselves, and be more aware of where we stand in terms of our emotional wellbeing.
So I thought that Mondays might be a good opportunity to reflect on the past weekend and what it tells us about our state of wellbeing.
BTW, I might talk about the "best" moments of the weekend. "Best" doesn't mean amazing (it could even be the least bad). For example, my best time this weekend was early Sunday morning when I took a long time sipping tea and got lost in thoughts. It might not seem like much, but it was peaceful and enjoyable to me.
So here are this Monday's check in questions:
- How have you been feeling these days?
- How was your weekend, overall?
- Which were your best times this weekend? How did you feel about them?
- Which were not-so-good times? How did you feel?
All questions are optional. You can add any comments you wish, as they come to your mind.
I look forward to your answers!

Thank you for checking in!
I am sorry these days have not been good. I wish you feel better soon.
If listening to peaceful music makes you feel better, why not listen for 30 minutes, then 1 hour, etc... You might have nice music as background while you are doing other things. There are very long playlists of peaceful music of different kinds (new age, pop, classical...) on all the streaming platforms, like Youtube, Spotify, Youtube Music, etc.
You have discovered that music improves your mood. This is something to celebrate and take full advantage of. Congratulations on that!
Thank you again for checking in.
I wish you all the best!.
See you soon!
@HealingTalk i cant listen to music much cuz my parents took my headphones away .they always take away what makes me happy. i took theirs for 5 minutes that day silently and had to keep it back
@DamonRocks123
Most people have many headphones that accumulate from changing phones that come with one.
You could ask someone you know to give you unused headphones.
If not possible, listen through the phone loudspeaker.
In a place, at a time, and with a volume that doesn't annoy others.
Music is very important to you.
Do anything possible to listen to music
@HealingTalk
How have you been feeling these days?
Ups and downs. Not been the best of times lately.
How was your weekend, overall?
Spent it in the hospital so uneventful and not great all in all. Nothing serious or anything, just don't like hospitals.
Which were your best times this weekend? How did you feel about them?
People visiting and contacting me throughout it. It's been more social than I expected. Not used to it, so the feelings are a bit conflicting, but it was nice.
Which were not-so-good times? How did you feel?
Being in the hospital. Loads of unwanted memories here.
@OneErased
Thank you for checking in!
I am sorry these recent times have not been as good.
"Ups and downs" is the name of the game, I think. We enjoy and celebrate the ups, and cope with the downs. Thankfully there were some good ups to celebrate!
I totally agree that the hospital is not the most inspiring place, to say the least. It is boring at best, and might be unsettling at worst. Particularly if you have bad memories associated with it. But it's great that they exist, when you really need them...
Thankfully there are so many ways to distract yourself even just with your phone likelistening to music, watching videos, reading about things that interest you, chatting with your friends, chatting in chatrooms like those of 7 Cups... And games...
How great that you received visits, calls and messaging during your stay there! It's true that we might have a more intense social life while in hospital than in normal life. Kind of a paradox. It seems that you have a very good support network that revealed itself in all its strength in this occasion, and that will continue to be a very reassuring thing from now on.
Thank you again for checking in!
I wish you all the best there, and also after you happily leave!
I’m feeling just as angry and depressed as I always seem to be. And it’s only getting worse along with my life. I was supposed to receive my wages on Friday and have yet to get anything. I’m tempted to file a wage claim with the government and risk being fired, but then I’m unemployed again and I’ll be back to being home all damn day again. People always send me hope through the comments but I don’t really feel hope anymore. All I feel is this growing feeling that I should just go.

Thank you for checking in!
You are right to feel angry, because you have been unfairly wronged. Your employer defaulted on their obligations to you. Anger is the right emotion to feel.
Employers have a lot of power over employees, a lot more than is valid for running the business. There is a very unfair, huge unbalance of power.
You are also right to feel frustrated and discouraged by this, because it is an unfair and sad reality that we can't do anything about.
It's understandable that under these circumstances both the present and the future look gloomy and it's very difficult to have hope.
As a suggestion to cope with these bad times, you might make the effort to do simple things you enjoy, like watching movies, listening to music or playing games you like.
Try to create at least some moments of distraction and entertainment. Make them a kind of daily duty.
I wish you get paid soon as you deserve, and that makes you feel somewhat better.
Thank you again for checking in.
May things get better soon 🙏
You have a right to be angry. You deserve wages. I would consider filing a claim in the next few days. Sending strength. @Server8462

1. I have not been at my best lately. I just want to stop being so dysfunctional all the time. I get out of control so easily lately.
2. It was mostly good, slightly longer than other weekends.
3. Spent time with loved ones and that was a lot of fun. Did some gaming on my own, that was fun too.
4. Had a checkup appointment and the doctor was needlessly toxic to me for no real reason. It ruined my mood a bit. Also had a really dysfunctional time at one point. It left me feeling so lonely and disgusted.

Thank you, Torean for checking in!
I am glad that you had such a good weekend, spending time with loved ones and having fun with games you like.
It seems a great combination of social and autonomous enjoyment.
Congratulations!
I am sorry about your sour experience with the doctor. Most doctors are not trained to deal with people, but with "diseases", as if people were like trucks carrying diseases.
So they might treat you as just a problematic object, if they don't have a kind personality at their base.
In which sense do you feel dysfunctional and out of control?
Thank you again for checking in!
I wish you all the best.

I am feeling okay. I was trying to keep content despite the heavy workflow. The best times were when I could sleep and listen to music. I feel okay today. The not-so-good times was trying to keep myself happy while in between demanding work tasks.
Okay is awesome.@SynSavory

I am glad you feel well.
Working hard can be stimulating and satisfying. But working too much gets overwhelming.
Changing gears between heavy work tasks, to slow down and have a moment of peace and enjoyment, is a challenge. One carries the inertia of the work mindset. It's difficult to turn off like with a switch.
Good sleep is refreshing and indispensable when working hard.
Music is so powerful to improve our muod... It's a mystery to me how it works so well with our minds.
It requires little effort and produces a big result. A great investment of your time.
Congratulations that you could get some moments of enjoyment, and also cope with such a heavy workload!
Thank you again for checking in!
All the best!
