Hello, fellow life travelers of the Depression Support Subcomunnity!

Weekends are when we have more free time so we can more fully express ourselves, and be more aware of where we stand in terms of wellbeing.

So now might be a good opportunity to reflect on the past weekend and what it tells us about our state of emotional health.

Here are this today's check-in questions:

  • How have you been feeling these days?
  • How was your weekend, overall?
  • Which were your best times this weekend? How did you feel about them?
  • Which were not-so-good times? How did you feel?

All questions are optional. You can add any comments you wish, as they come to your mind.

I look forward to your answers!

As a final note, if you find it interesting to join the Depression Support team, learn more about opportunities, requirements, and how to join, by clicking HERE.

I wish you all the best!

The weekend was bad yesterday. I hadn't slept at all. I don't even know what I really did for a lot of yesterday. Saturday i got to go exploring, but didn't get to do nearly as much as I wanted. I just can't wait for the next weekend, which starts my vacation

@Torean

Thank you Torean for checking in!

Yeah... lack of sleep ruins the day. No matter what good things happen, we are in such a bad mood, lacking energy and focus, that are incapable of enjoying.

Nice that you went exploring Saturday!

Even a little might be great.

Sometimes it's not so much about the extension or amount of things, but the intensity of our awareness.

"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes." Marcel Proust

So even a short walk might become, with the right mindset, an adventure of exploration.

I am happy for you that you start your vacation next weekend!

Vacations are amazing, no matter what you do!

I wish you all the best!

See you soon!

Marcelo.

Dear Ashley:

Thank you for checking in!

I am glad you have been feeling well lately, and have met your best friend this weekend.

Stress is a fact of life, it seems. Fortunately, there are many practices and techniques to deal with it. It's about having enough willpower to commit to some of these, so as to keep stress at healthy levels.

And yes, it's annoying and disappointing when a friend you need to talk with doesn't respond in time and appropriately.

I wish you all the best!

I have been feeling okaish I guess . There have been good days and awful ones too . So , its been a mixed bag.

Weekend wasn't the best . Cried a bit due to depression. I have come to terms that u have to accept some problems in life . Not everyone's life is the same . For some , every moment is painful . It is what it is .

@calmsoulmeet

Thank you for checking in, friend!

I am glad that the general balance these days is positive.

Even a slightly positive average is great.

Crying is ok. It's a blessing that you can express yourself and not let everything trapped inside.

Overcoming challenges, you have become wise about life.

Life is an unfair lottery. As you say "Not everyone's life is the same. For some, every moment is painful."

The merit is not in having good luck with the cards we received.

The merit is in playing the best we can the cards we actually have in our hands. Particularly if they are not so good.

The measure of our success is in dealing with our own challenges.

Depression has the bad characteristic that it robs us of the energy and the will to do that.

So the merit is tenfold.

You have achieved a wise, realistic view of things.

And you are doing great in that, with the inevitable ups and downs, your average is positive.

This is something to celebrate.

Congratulations!

And thank you again for checking in.

All the best!

Marcelo.

I’m just sick of living, lost my job today because they said I wasn’t doing well enough. They said the way they teach and the way I learn are different. So they canned me. So now I’m just back home.

took me weeks to find a job like that and now I’m back at square one. I can’t handle people so majority of work is out the window for me.

im just done.

@Server8462

Oh, how sad!

That's terrible!

Hugs, and more hugs, friend!

I once lost my job and felt so so bad, so many bad things...

Angry. Humiliated. A huge loss of self-worth. Shame to let others know. Fear about the future...

It was one of the worst experiences in my life.

So I can relate and imagine how bad you might be feeling now.

The future might look all dark forever.

But, as silly as it sounds, at some point things will get better. You will get another job. Trust me on this one.

Regarding people skills, there are many resources to improve on that, from Dale Carnegie's old classic "How to win friends..." to many other books (like those by Leil Lowndes) and Youtube channels.

Anyway, I know this is a very sad moment and no book will change that

I personally know it hurts a huge lot.

I send you hugs, all my best wishes, and want to tell you that, even if it doesn't look like at all, things will get better someday.

All the best in these terrible times.

Marcelo.

Hi!

I'm sorry you felt so much frustration these days. What things didn't go as expected to make you feel frustrated?

It seems that disorder in your life, having things out of control, possibly also lack of order at the house, make you feel very bad.

While taking control of things, establishing order, makes you feel well.

This is an important finding, that you can take advantage of.

For example by implementing life organizing methods (like GTD "Getting Things Done") and putting a lot of order in your house, in the line of Marie Kondo's books.

Having all things to do under control, and living in a very well-ordered environment might both have a positive impact on your wellbeing.

What do you think?

@HealingTal

I know order is a very important thing for me if I could get the family on that note. I am a very structured person and was raised that way. It is extremely hard for me to function in chaos. I can't get my husband on board or my daughter on being more organized.

@scarletPear1945

Hi!

I can relate because we have a similar issue in our family. My mother is like you, and I am like your daughter.

In my case, I have understood that my mother's need for order goes well beyond what's reasonable to me and what's necessary for the house to "look good".

That it's an issue about her mental health and wellbeing. Like allergic people need the house to be extremely clean, much cleaner than what's visible. It's not a matter of aesthetics, but of health.

Maybe if they understood that given your life history, when they leave a mess or even something out of place, they hurt you, they might behave differently

Your family is not trying to hurt you with their messy behavior, but they just don't understand how important it's for you. What you deem right, might look unreasonable from the outside.

You could tell them that you know the level of order you need is beyond what's reasonable, that you know it takes some work to keep things in perfect order, but you need that because of who you are given your personal history, and you appreciate very very much any efforts they make to keep order to make you feel well.

On the other hand, you could try to reduce a bit your standard of order, knowing it's not vital, everything will be ok anyway, and there are more important things in life.

You might try repeating affirmations with these ideas, recalling what are those things that are most important to you.

I hope some of these ideas might help, and I look forward to your comments.

All the best!

I’m afraid there’s just so many things that have been bothering me, sometimes all at once. Ranging from friends, to family, to my partner- it’s quite difficult to keep up with anything these days. Unfortunately for me, my weekend was just…rough. I was either aggressively juggling my emotions around for different people all at once, or suppressing them. I think the best time I had this weekend was simply doing nothing with my partner as we enjoy chatting over the simplest and most mundane of things. As for the not so well stuff, there’s far too many to count now.

Thank you for checking in!

I am sorry that your friends, your family and your partner bother you, to such an extent that severely affects you.

What do they do to annoy you so much?

Small talk with your partner about simple things seems lovely, peaceful and calming.

Sometimes the simple things are the best.

I suppose it’s just that I’ve already been stressed out about a lot of things, and whatever they have done wasn’t helping at all. They seemed to have made things worse.

Thankfully, I’ve talked about things with my partner and worked it out with them. Now all that’s left is to work something out with my family.

Thank you so much for the concern! 🥹

Odile:

Thank you for your answer.

I am glad that you have worked out things with your partner, so there is more harmony and understanding between both of you.

And that you anticipate doing the same with your family.

So, hopefully, after that very stressful time, things might become more peaceful, and you might feel much better.

You seem to be willing and capable of talking about problems with significant people in your life, instead of hiding them under the rug.

This is a healthy and courageous attitude and a very valuable skill for life.

Congratulations on that!
