@HealingTalk

Hi, Talk,

This is just my opinion, but I would prefer by far, questions that are different every week. It feels like no one is interested enough to write new questions every week. And that it's a probably sign that no one within 7Cups will be interested enough to read the answers. It's just how I feel.

@purpleTree4652

I'd rather not work for these people cleaning their homes. I'd rather not work as a maid, but I will if I have to.

No, I don't have leads on anything better. I expect to get another minimum wage/hourly job. I have an interview at McDonald's tomorrow. It could work out really well for me. I hope they hire me.

What makes it the busy season for you?

@purpleTree4652

Hello!

Thank you for checking in, and expressing your honest thoughts!

I greatly appreciate it.

I agree with you that variety makes it more interesting.

So far, I have asked open questions about the current emotional state of those checking in, with minimal if any variety, and focused more on the answers.

The traditional guideline for check-ins is to start with an icebreaker and then ask some version(s) of "How are you?"

I will try to improve, adhering to this scheme as much as I can.

Thank you for your valuable feedback and reminder!

I wish you all the best!

Marcelo.

Hello Moon!

Welcome to the Depression Support subcommunity, and thank you for checking in!

It seems that you are going through very demanding times in terms of works to do.

You are a very determined person, in that even tired ans stressed out, you continue to move forward with your tasks.

This is a rare virtue, in these times of multiple distractions and widespread procrastination.

Congratulations on that!

Maybe the risk is burnout. Try to compel yourself to take breaks at pre-set times.

You could set alarms on your phone for times to rest, and timer intervals to limit those rests so you can relax knowing the phone will remind you when a reasonable rest time has ended.

Pomodoro timers are good for all this.

You could also schedule time for short walks and muscle stretching. Those are great to relieve stress.

Anyway, I admire your grit and determination in overcoming stress and fatigue to get the job done, even if it's too much.

I wish you take the time to care for yourself.

I leave you with a video on the famous "7th habit of highly effective people", which is to "Sharpen your Saw".

All the best!

See you soon!

Marcelo.

How was your week overall?

It was way too long and way too hot. I've just been dragging myself along trying to get basic things done and not quite getting there. I've got barely any chores done and the one chore I did (hosing down the property with this attachment of Ortho insect killer because the house flies have been disgusting), I ended up overdoing it and waking up today with sore muscles and joints.

Which were the brightest moments in your week?

I finally got to speak with my friend. She finally got home in time for her birthday, greeted her senior cat who gave her just the right amount of 'Hey, where were you? I missed you!' adoration before ignoring her like cats tend to do, and had a nice birthday celebration with her fiance.

We spoke the day after that for a little bit but it had been so long since I first asked for that call that I'd forgotten what was so upsetting or worrisome in the first place. She was very apologetic for it, and I shrugged it off and spoke about something current instead. That I'm getting ready to pass my father's urn on to the next family member in line. That I made it a little over a month, much longer than I thought I was going to be able to handle it, but really it's just been like having a very quiet roommate in a really pretty jar.

Which were not-so-bright moments?

Moments of lethargy and fatigue.

I ran out of refills for my antidepressants and because of some issue at my doctor's office and hospital (since they never answer my pharmacist's calls and showed no sign of doing it now) I had to take what should have been three weeks worth of pills and snapped them all in half so I could taper the dose safely and last till the beginning of this month. The withdrawal symptoms were awful and I only started to feel normal again when I was able to get my refill and take whole pills again.

What do you wish to achieve this weekend?

I want to do a little more editing of my Camp NaNo stuff. I also want to get all my dishes done. Maybe if I schedule short bursts of washing dishes every hour I'll be able to make a dent in the mess.

Hi!

Nice to see you again around here!

And thank you for checking in!

It's hard when it's hot and you have to do physical work. I congratulate you that you did that tiresome house cleaning despite the hot climate and your fatigue after a tough week.

I wish you that you get better soon from your "battle wounds" in your war against house flies...

I am glad that you finally got to speak with your friend. I remember you were very concerned about your relationship with her. And that you managed that conversation in a positive way, so your friend reacted well to it.

How bad that you suffered from awful withdrawal symptoms from lower-than-prescribed antidepressant doses. I hope the administrative personnel at the hospital and doctor's office never again leave you without your medication.

I wish you that the Muses come to you while editing your Camp NaNo work.

Your strategy for washing the dishes seems great. "Never eat an elephant in one gulp".

Listening to your favorite music or audiobook while doing the dishes might also help. Noise-isolating earbuds are best. I also wear earmuffs (the kind used by airport personnel) on top of it all, so the noise from the dishes doesn't interfere with the music. Sounds weird but it works for me.

Thank you again for checking in!

I wish you all the best.

See you soon!

Marcelo.

I am so glad that you finally got a chance to talk to your friend. I know that you had been looking forward to that. Sorry about all the pill issues.

But you should be happy about anything that you got done. Doing stuff in short bursts is awesome. It is nice to see something from you again. @integrityblues

Thanks. It's just been very hard to get involved as much in the forums.

No reason to feel guilty. You are as involved as you need to be. None of this should ever be a chore. @integrityblues

@bestVase7265

I've just been struggling a little with finding anything to say. I kind of get stuck in a loop of "What you have to say isn't important, so why bother?" then log off the computer so I can lay down. I'm trying to do a little better since it's Monday. I've taken the time to do ten minutes of Tai Chi before I take a shower and start today's chores!

What you say is always important. Otherwise the bad stuff knocks around your head and brings you down further. I have always been impressed at how you get up and continue the battle. @integrityblues

So sorry that it has been such a struggle. Sending strength and peace.

The cycling sounds like a great way to relieve some of the awfulness. @resourcefulLand9340
