A letter from me to you!
Dear you,
Depression is not feeling down for an hour out of your day.
Depression is one extreme to another.
Depression and panick attacks can hit you at work, in your car, at a party, shopping or even at home.
Depression is still something that a lot of people don't understand. But then again, how can you understand something you have never experienced yourself. Some people will just tell you that it will get better and you dream of when it will be. Depression doesn't just hit a small group of people. You could have everything you've ever wished for and it can still plant a seed for you to carry for life. It's not fun. It's not a game and it doesn't just disappear unfortunately.
I want to tell you that it's okay to cry. It's okay to feel weak. You're not bulletproof, you are human. You're capable of getting hurt, feel emptiness. Savour each tear, grieve and cry if you need to. It's okay if there are days when you can't get out of bed. It's okay to be mad. It's okay to be sad.
You matter!
I understand what you are going through and your feelings are valid. I want to tell you that you are brave, you have the courage to find help or open up about your situation on here.
There is nothing that a person can say to cure depression in someone else, but being supportive and a good listener can help and I do hope you will find that on here or with any other kind of support around you.
Best wishes,
Daphne
