What do you hate about yourself?

User Profile: cosmicjellyfishqueen

Depression is bizarre in how in alters the way we think. We may know logically that it is our depression making us think this way but knowing that doesn't invalidate it. So write down what exactly you hate about yourself, let it all out. Once you do look back at what you wrote. Hopefully documenting your thought process will make it easier to work through your issues. Plus we will all be here to help.

I didn't hate everything until I was bullied. I used to love myself and didn't think anything was wrong with me. Just by looking in the mirror I can tell one slight imperfection whether it be my eyes are messed up, I'm starting to get a pimple, my face is dry, or I have acne on my chest again. I hate that I can point out every detail about myself that I hate and can't think of one good one.

My brother was bullied maliciously by an entire class. I saw the toll it took on him and I'm sorry you have to go through that. I had to enlist all my friend's younger brothers to look out for my brother, it finally stopped. It's a pack mentality that goes on and its jarring. Just try and remember there is nothing wrong with you...you are just a person. They are looking for an outlet for their own problems. I know this is easier said than done because it wears on your heart...but just every time say to yourself "why are these fools picking on me for being a person?" because that's all they are doing..there is nothing wrong with you. There is something terribly wrong with them.

Sorry if I seem out of place, but when I red "bullied by an entire class" my heart missed a beat. I'm sorry for everyone of you who got bullied or was affected by bullying even though indirectly. I got bullied by entire classes both at elementary and middle school, because the teachers did it first. At elementary, a teacher did it for years, and my classmates were more and more detached from me for the things this teacher said of me in front of all. Eventually, the last year, they really started the heavy bullying. At middle school, classmates only bullied when the teacher did, but the teacher's bullying was more cruel. I never had my family's support, and that's why especially the middle school teacher knew she could have so much fun with me.

From this, one of the first things I learnt when I started to recover, is that there are some people whose only concern is to make their day better, but I want to be a person that can also think about how to make other people's day better, and that not everyone has this ability to think outside theirself. I held it dear and tried to become better at it ever since

If it's an out of place post...I'm going to add to it. LOL

Teachers did the same thing to my brother. A teacher actually alloed a bunch of guys to sexually harass me in a class when I was in middle school he said "you love it" when a guy lifted up my shirt. Also in middle school I had a boyfriend who backed me into a corner and screamed at me in the hallway with his fist raised and teachers just walked by...except for one who finally stopped it. Its a shame because these are adults and they should know better and they do know better, they let kids down by not stepping or allowing and/or participating in the problem. These teachers are damaging lives at such a young age where incidents influence our chemical development at the time. My brother cant hold down a job, suffers from PTSD, all because adults dropped the ball. I feel for you, I honestly do. It breaks my heart.

I hope you dont let them break you. These people are in your life temporarily. It is just a matter of time until you find your people that love and accept you for who you are. You just keep being you and keep an eye out for your people. 😉

@unassumingTalker8875 I completely understand. Im a person of color. When I was in elementary school teachers would treat me different, as if I wasnt smart enough or couldnt understand the simplest things. Then college started when everyone is looking at body types and hormones are raging and all they think about is sex. I hate that I cant feel comfortable in my own body. I dont like the way I am and I feel like I would give up everything to change it but then there are days when I feel like I couldnt be anyone else but myself and thats ok. It changes and my moods do to and its the worst

hey

the thing i hate most about myself is that i worry and overthink too too much. so much that it seriously hurt those i love around me - i even made one walk away because i was too much of a burden for them, and they themselves said they didnt know how to handle me anymore.

please just if you have any any advice on how to stop this habitual worrying, please please write back, i would appreciate that loads.

thank you guys so much.

@etchingfuchsia

wow, i find that very true.

i apologise that i cant offer any much advice, recommendations or solution.

(internally) i am battling with it as well... and also as much as driving "nuts" to others. (at least i feel)

My tendency to let people walk all over me. I'm not good at standing up for myself. I left my last job because of it, and now it's happening at my current job. I'm just worried that if I stand up for myself, I could get fired.

Im bad about not standing up for myself either. To the point that others around me can get mad at me for not standing up for myself about things that have made them mad enough to stand up for me. I know it's a really hard thing to deal with on both sides. Try thinking about how you would feel if they did whatever to someone you love very much like your mom or something instead, if you wouldn't let people treat them like that, why would you let them treat you like that?

Yaaaaaay! I'm "walk over me please" queen!!! To the point of (just an example, but not exagerated, since something very similar happened) instantly blaming myself if someone physically assaults me out of the blue. Poor thing: he met a fool that was just standing there and gave him the chance to beat her! Or I would deny myself positive things because some people believe that I did something bad -which I didn't- and I think that, because of this, they would think I don't deserve those positive things. So I don't get them. Even though I'm innocent. And no one really told me that anyone thinks I don't deserve them. This happens all the time. In an argument, I'm always the one who's wrong, right from the start. That's why I never argue. And my partner gets mad at me because I don't argue, and he starts stending up for me in his own argument, while I keep defending him. We are at that point ahahahahahahah

If you can believe it, it got better, it has been worse, I can do this LOL

@calmCake1477

this is something not easy to tackle.

(in my opinion) "we" tend to allow others to "walk over us", because it is easier than "fighting" for our rights/values/thoughts

compared to spending the energy (mentally and physically) and still losing the battle ultimately

understand that things gets challenging when things like job, career is on the line.

but do the best you can and take up opportunities whenever possible. (but not to the extent of fighting for the rights when it is somewhat morally wrong)

take care, stay strong.

I dont hate anything about myself. Because today I realize that self hate eats you up. Self hate keeps you from finding yourself. Self hate keeps you from loving others and yourself the way you guys deserve to be loved. Self hate will keep you from understanding what love is. If you HATE the way you cleaned your house today go back and point out 3 things you LOVED about the way you cleaned your house. And the next time you clean your house keep that LOVE! and change the HATE. R U L E I T O U T!

I hate that it takes me so long to find the words to explain something. I hate that I'm not really sure who I am. I hate that I get so nervous about things I make myself sick and can't eat. I hate that I get so angry that I take it out on myself. I hate when I can't concentrate. I hate that my hands shake. I hate that I can't sleep. I hate that there are things going on in my head that I don't understand. I hate that things get stuck in my head. I hate that I'd rather be alone.
