i listen music whenever i’m depressed or feeling overwhelmed/overstimulated. music is like my safe place. i’d listen to two specific songs and immediately i’d start to calm down, and it always amazes me. ray charles “georgia on my mind” and gary b.b coleman “the sky is crying” 💕
@chyni
Have you ever heard "believe" by Brooks and Dunn it helps me through rough times also " I am beautiful " by Christina Aguilera both make me calm when I need it . Glad music helps you
@pamharley003
actually no, i’ve never heard “believe” i must give it a listen one day.. however, i am very familiar with the christian aguilera one. thank you for the suggestion pam 💕
@pamharley003
When I am feeling down or depressed I listen to music that makes me feel good. While the song is playing I can look at the lyrics or watch the music video. Also I can color and take my time coloring instead of rushing through it. Both of these helps me calm down and relaxed.
@pamharley003 Welcome aboard, my friend. The Depression Community, is lucky to have a wise person, such as you. Thanks for stepping up. I know, you will do amazing things to grow the community. You're a very supportive person. I remember member you from my listener and leadership days, and the times in the listener support room. You, would always share your wisdom with anyone, including me. I am really thankful that we met each other, in the listener support room. I sense retired from the listener side of things, but I still remember what you taught me, and I use it now on the memberside of things here at 7cups. You'er an amazing teacher, listener, leader and all around friend. I wish you nothing but the best.

Thank you for the kind words you said of me. I am just someone who wants to help here with either side
@pamharley003 Your very welcomed.
When I am depressed, I sit and observe nature , it cools my mind. And I do journaling because it easier to write down than verbalising which helps me to process emotions.
I get stuck in my past thought loop and what I found helpful is to try some creative hobbies which can break and gives a flow. It's difficult to do but someone said that the opposite of depression is expression and it resonates with me as it gives a sense of expressive freedom 😇
The music 'Everdream' by epic soul factory helps me to go through.
@pamharley003 I do most of the list ❤ except eating properly, I don't like eating. Oh and exercise I do gentle exercises, and push myself around when I'm strong enough♿♿ but yeah can't really do much with a broken spine and half paralysed.
something else that I think helps with depression, is venting, and letting it out creatively like painting or editing poems ❤❤
@Tinywhisper11 or writing* poems
