Depression
What do you do to feel better when you feel that you are relapsing? I have some things that help but would like to discover more! I am also trying to reframe my negative thoughts because I noticed how much they affect me. I am only starting but there is already a difference. So I hope with consistency I will get better at it!
@schrodingerscattt. I like to reframe my thoughts also. I also like to keep a gratitude journal. It has gotten to be a few pages. When I’m feeling down I like to read it to remind myself that I have good things in my life not on negatives. I have some affirmations that I say such as “I’ll get through this.”

Thank you for your response! I tried to do gratitude but it's not really helping me. I feel so bad and just want to cry. I lack a normal level of social interactions and just love and affection so being grateful for tape water or electricity won't help. I really tried but didn't find much. Only material stuff. But that is not enough to make me feel better.
@schrodingerscattt. I know the same thing doesn’t work for everyone. I hope you find something that helps 💜.
Hello @schrodingerscattt, welcome to the community.
I'm glad you've got some things that support you in feeling better when you're experiencing a relapse. It's this thing with depression, one can never know when it strikes or be enough "prepared" to ride that wave, I feel. Always great to keep trying our best and yay for being open to more ideas.
Becoming aware of our thoughts and reframing the negative thoughts is such a powerful tool, almost like "catching" the negative thought as early possible before it starts to spiral. Very relieved to hear you find it helpful so far already. Consistency is magic, I wish you all the best while you continue trying your best. It *does* count. 💛
Here are a couple of posts that might have more insight and helpful tips:

Hello 🌷
First of all, it's great that you are trying to help yourself and even your post will be useful to all of us. We will listen to different ideas, so thank you 👏😇👏 Um, for me, always when I feel relapsed or some kind of cloud of negativity, let's say, I turn to different things.
*For example, walking in the park and contemplating nature
*Reading and seeing the stories of people who fought such a thing or reading a book about optimism. I also love the book 365 Days by Demi Lovato even if I read the same book every year🤭😅😂 .
*Drawing: I am not a professional at drawing at all 😂😂 but just drawing helps me to have my mind free of anything other than drawing, so I feel comfortable. I just draw random lines, squares and circles on the paper and make sure I always have a lot of colored pencils and then I color slowly with a cup on my side. Coffee, and after I finish drawing and coloring, I feel relaxed and my mood changes 🤔🌷😇
Take care😇

Thank you for these awesome suggestions! Right now i am relapsing again and that sucks. It's so hard to have depression. The worst part is that it's due to things in my environment and i can't stop but feeling mad because if only i had a different family and friends things could have been different! But well, i have the life that i have after all and i have to accept all the negative things that happened to me i can't change them. The only great thing that depression gave me is empathy. I at least now understand that some people have such a hard life and i just wanna help anyone i can.
I've turned my home into a cozy sanctuary. I decorated it to the style I like. Have my real and LED candles, my Lavendar AirWicks, and my JBL speaker to listen to music. I even bought new comfy bedding. Beautifying my home has made me feel happy to be here. Once I bought the new bedding, I decided that I had to shower every day again to keep it nice. I started cleaning properly again to keep my nice stuff nice. I've entertained company...
I think creating your dreamspace can really uplift you. I don't have much money either. Just bought things little by little over the years. Heck, even just cleaning and organizing your home can make you feel better. I enjoy having what my daughter calls "candle time" in my room. We cuddle and have our daily talks.
Some say being outdoors can elevate the mood. I'm not much of an outdoorsy person, but I can see how breathing the fresh air of the outdoors with the sunshine on your back and wind in your hair can be lovely. Music moves me. I listen to it most days to energize or relax.
