Depression, ptsd burnout, tension and living in small places

So at home mom's drinking and moods trigger my anxiety and su1cidal tendencies, at my accommodation where im away from her im cakm but im numb. Im lonely. Im tired. I can't clean, i have spiders and trash and no food and meds and water. I really struggle to take care of myself and the place. I sleep all day and stay up all night. I see nobody. I can't concentrate. Food has no taste. I feel like a failure. Ik this is severe depression. I went to therapy this week, the therapist told me to take care of myself but i can't, im too depressed to. I wanted to get a job so i can afford a bigger place so i can clean and feel better and not be so depressed but im too depressed to even function and what comes to finding a job and she said it.

I'm really sorry to hear that you're going through a tough time. It seems like you have a lot going on right now. It's great that you decided to get therapy, even if you're having a hard time looking after yourself.

Just remember, it's okay to take things one step at a time and be kind to yourself during this rough period. You're not alone in this, and reaching out for help is a courageous thing to do. Keep leaning on your support system and know that things will get better 🙏🏻

Thank you! The thing is that i feel like im losing my support system. I have just one friend left who's busy with her boyfriend. Also depression is really severe these days and it's so hard to go out. Ppl think im lazy so it feels really nice to hear some kind words. I really appreciate your compassion.❤️

@intellectualGrapefruit6085 Sounds like you're going through a difficult time, I can relate to that. I am also diagnosed with depression & PTSD. I'm still learning how to be more gentle with myself as well. I think it's good that you're going to therapy, that's a step in the right direction. I have gotten into the habit of breaking down tasks as small as possible. Maybe start by washing the dishes for 5-10mins than do the rest tomorrow. Next day could pick up some clothes from the ground, and work your way slowly around the house. I usually put on my earbuds and listen to music as I do errands/chores to make the day go by a bit better.

As for having no food, that really bites, I'm sorry you're going through that. Not having food can also worsen your overall mood. If you are currently unable to afford it, I recommend trying to apply for nutrition assistance and/or going to the food bank. Maybe get some easy stuff for now, such as microwavable so you don't expend too much energy cooking, especially if you're feeling down and depressed.

If you feel you can't do those things for the moment, maybe have a chat with your friend (the one you mentioned that has a boyfriend) and explain your situation, maybe she could also help lessen the load on your shoulders? I used to have a hard time reaching out, but learnt to ask after awhile. Or you could seek out resources somewhere and find a rep help you with that.

I was homeless for a bit, and some strangers "adopted" me by allowing me to stay in their guest house for awhile until I got back on my feet. I was very lucky. Couldn't afford food, and the food went to the little one. I had little energy to do much, except for making sure little one was OK. I neglected my health at that time. I'm slowly trying to work my way back to being healthier. I spent most of my money going from Airbnb to hotel to make sure my son had a roof over his head during that time, and only had enough money for that and food for him and ate any leftovers, which wasn't much...

Also --
It's OK if you don't feel like doing anything today. It's OK if you decided to just shower and brush your teeth -- that's still progress! It's OK if you wash dishes today and do nothing the next. Depression is weird sometimes. Just have to let it flow.

My doctor put me on meds to help my chemical imbalance, and it's helped a bit. I also have chronic pain, and it still hurts, but my mind is somewhat better at the least. Maybe your therapist can point you to some resources? If you feel your therapist isn't as helpful, can try for 2nd opinions as well. I had to go through different doctors to get help for both my mental and physical health, until someone took me seriously.

I wish you the best. I hope you're able to find a place that is more safe for you. I hope that you receive the help you need. Also, you are right! Depression is NOT laziness. It is something else entirely. It is OK if you are unable to do certain things today. It's OK to rest. I hope you don't feel bad for resting! It is normal and fine for the body & mind to recuperate. Take the time you need, no rush. 💖

Thank you. You're so kind and went through so much. I'm worried i might end up homeless after graduation when my funds stop and im not well enough to work. My friend doesn't really care about me since her boyfriend and she's sick and i think i am too, alll day gut issues. Couldn't do any chores or shower or brush my teeth. I need to take out the rubbish but idk why im terrified. I do things i don't like just to get attention. I feel like I can't adult. Idk when to go home and whether to go home, mom has a birthday but idk if she wants me
