Does depression ever go away?

As the title goes, does it ever go away? I have been depressed for around 11 years now. I havent been able to get therapy, i have only gotten prescribed antidepressants once but got cut off them after my attempt. I think I get better and think that i was never depressed in the first place and then it comes back and things like going to bed, eating without feeling sick, or just enjoying life just becomes something that i cant do anymore. i feel like i cant get up. I still do and try and be happy but when the act is over i just lay in bed, scroll or just listen to music while thinking about life and the meaning of it. it affects my relationships especially with my fiancee. he wants me tk get better so i can be there for him. weve almost broken up because of me feeling depresssed , suicidal, and even relapsing. he doesnt tell me how he feels anymkre which only makes me feel worse. i feel like depression is ruling my life and i cant ever make it go away. does it ever go away? or do i just learn to live with it. i dont know what to do anymore and i feel stuck. i feel like in a loop of being happy, being depressed, feeling suicidal, to back to feeling happy as if i was faking the whole thing. im lost in my own body and its been happening for years and i just want it to stop.

@cecials

Different for many but I feel it comes down to how we deal with it.  Mine comes and goes and if I recognize the signs that it is coming on ........ I can sometimes avoid it or at least minimize it. find out what helps you for some exercise and releasing endorphins helps for others it may be sleep.

Learning how to manage and explain to a partner so they can better understand helps.   I feel medication only masks it especially if we self-medicate.   Therapy while useful is often a Pain to find the right one and not get strung along instead of going after core issues.

I know this all to well. The loop. Feel better then wonder if you were even depressed. So I don't get help, then it comes back. Even when I feel the darkness come back I cant fight it . Fighting only prolongs the inevitable because it always come back. This has been almost my entire life and I am 40. I wont make it any longer I'm afraid. I have done all I know to do and then some. I am happy that life is temporary. Its the one thing that gives me some kind of comfort.

Hi! If there is a chance for you to go to therapy, please do! Sometimes we need help, and it takes a village. Start with therapy and keep sharing how you feel.

You are more than "depression" you are loved and worthy!
