Just letting it out
My brother’s autistic and my family’s not prestigious but I think I’m a fairly decent person, highly educated, I have a job and enough to get by.
There are a million reasons for it, but I sometimes find myself blaming the first two reasons for overshadowing everything else. It feels like those are the two things people jump on when they feel the slightest thing’s off and they’re looking for reasons to not pick me.
It’s exhausting.

Thanks for sharing. Its really important to share and let out those feelings and thoughts that are bugging us.
The impression I get is that you feel overshadowed by two things that you have no control over - your brother's autism and your family's prestige. It's very frustrating when there are things we see affecting our life that we cannot change. Unfortunately in life you will find that there are many things that affect us but which we can't change - wars, flood, disease, bullies, the habits of other people etc. The only choice we do have in these things is how we respond to them and thus how much stress and frustration they cause us.
It's really difficult to confront this. No one wants to accept things that make life more difficult. But if the alternative is to exhaust ourselves trying to fight things we can't change, are we doing ourselves a good service?
It's a question I haven't yet answered. I was brought up to believe that we can achieve anything if we try hard enough. But I'm finding that life isn't like that. There are things that we have to learn to live with, whether we want to or not. And actually, who would we prefer to be friends with, someone who accepts the reality of life and is at peace with it, or someone who is constantly fighting and frustrated with it? Just not so easily done.
