...See more I just need to let this out. I need to work to live but I deeply dread seeing people from work. I can say I’m lucky the job pays and can cover expenses but I hate being around some people. They make me feel horrible and the thought of seeing them is a nightmare and it makes me sick. They talk badly about other people behind their backs nonstop while pretending to be nice. I find their behavior generally disagreeable and persistently annoying as well. The short break I took from them made me feel the happiest I have been in the past 3 years I have been working with them. I just wish there was a way to still earn as much and NEVER see them, hear their voices or receive messages from them again.

Toxic People

...See more I can’t stand this “friend group” where people keep pretending to be friends when they’re all backstabbers who are envious of each other. I know I can’t count on any of them as they’re all just primarily concerned about their own welfare. The group is dominated by narcissists. All their messages annoy me and I just want to leave. I can’t stand watching them all act like best friends.

Stepping away from a friend group
Friendship Support / by brightSpring4247

...See more I’ve been contemplating stepping away from the friend group I made at work. I don’t find interacting with them enriching and I always feel drained after hanging out with them. They do a lot of gossiping and talking about people which I’m not comfortable sitting through anymore, I feel like I have grown too old to be craving drama and messy relationships and situations. I feel like we’ve maintained a pretty ideal image of a friendship outwardly but I’m beginning to feel some underlying envy and sense a lot of backstabbing going on. The facade is slowly breaking but it feels like I’ve checked out of the whole friend group dynamic a long time ago. I have doubts and second thoughts, mostly on how it may in a way negatively impact the progress of my career but the more time I spend away from them, the more relieved I am. No anxiety, no dealing with backhanded compliments, no reading between the lines. Spending time with other people has also made me realize how mature, self-aware and consistent other people can be. I don’t want to make it look like I’m abruptly pushing them away but I really do feel like cutting them off from my life for good.

...See more Are some people just completely blind to how they may actually be in the wrong and immediately shift the blame on others? Arguing with them seems pointless and it just ends up with you being the bad person in the end.

...See more Having trouble with a friend who keeps blowing up issues out of proportion. Likes to talk badly about people but has 0 understanding for others when they have a rough time. Completely fine with criticizing others behind their back, changes his tune when he feels like it and acts like their best friend, no problems, as long as he’s not involved but when he is, refuses all accountability and makes it look like he’s doing you a favor by calling you out but never admitting to any of his mistakes. Feels like he never actually hears anything being said to him just goes all sarcastic and says ooooh so it’s my fault and starts enumerating all the ways I make him feel bad instead of reflecting on what he’s done or trying to understand. I feel like I’m being completely gaslit. All of these instances were completely unprovoked and were just brought up suddenly. I’m starting to think he’s a terrible person.

Autistic Sibling

...See more I have a sibling who has severe autism. My parents never did anything to help him become independent. I don’t want to care for him when they’re no longer around. I say this with a heavy feeling of guilt but I often think it’s unfair to be given such a responsibility and I find him a big burden. I don’t know what to do about this, I feel trapped.

Just letting it out

...See more My brother’s autistic and my family’s not prestigious but I think I’m a fairly decent person, highly educated, I have a job and enough to get by. There are a million reasons for it, but I sometimes find myself blaming the first two reasons for overshadowing everything else. It feels like those are the two things people jump on when they feel the slightest thing’s off and they’re looking for reasons to not pick me. It’s exhausting.

...See more Just needed to let this out… Guilting somebody into getting the expression of love you want builds resentment. Shows how conditional your love is. Making somebody feel meanspirited for putting things in their proper place and not choosing to perform dramatic acts of gratitude at the cost of practicality is just too much drama. I already gave up all my time and was willing to give up on everything to live your dreams and in the name of earning the title you can brag about, now you make me feel like a bad person for trying to save enough just so I can afford some happiness. The happiness and freedom you and your expectations could not provide. Not to mention anything about the burden of a brother you will leave me with. Supporting him and providing for a full grown debilitated adult is worth more than all the material expense and grand gestures you demand of me. All on top of proving that the times I did for you what my money could afford, you did not even consider because they weren’t on your terms, not grand enough to be posted and to brag about to your friends. So sorry for not wanting to splurge on you unnecessarily all the time. I’m tired of everything, I’m tired of being just your wish granted, a trophy you can brag about. I don’t even know who I am and what I actually want to do with my life just because you always make me feel like an ingrate for wanting more for myself and for wanting something other than what you can imagine. Always saying not to compare myself to others and really if I will have to be objective about it, where I am is not enough, not enough for me to be complacent. I appreciate everything you have done for me and I am willing to give back when I can but it also can’t come at the price of everything I’ve been trying to build, I’m sorry. I’ll give you what you want but I will also resent you for a long time for this.
