Left behind
A poem I generated based on a recent journal entry
Left Behind
The years stack up like unopened letters,
sealed with chances I never took.
Twenty-eight, but it feels like less,
like I never started, like I never grew.
They’ve all moved forward, found love, found life,
marked the milestones I’ve only dreamed.
First kisses, late nights, hands held tight—
stories I was supposed to write.
But I stayed behind, feet stuck in the past,
watching the world from a window I can’t open.
No car, no job, no place of my own,
no voice that feels loud enough to matter.
Even my own body betrays me,
a space I don’t know how to care for.
Mess piles up, hunger lingers,
sleep never brings the rest I need.
And yet, time doesn’t wait, doesn’t pause,
doesn’t care that I’ve fallen behind.
It only whispers what I already know—
everyone else is living.
And I am not.
@SirenOfTheBrokenKind What a deep and heartbreaking poem! Thank you for sharing this with us 💗 It's easy to feel left behind especially in today's age where it's easy to fall into the trap of comparing our lives with the ones we see on social media. However, it's important for us to trust that we're never behind in our own personal path (I know it's easier said than done).
If you'd like to chat more about your situation my DM's are open for you to 💗🫂 Sending warm hugs!
