Depression... It is a very slow, drowning process, but when you come out of it you realize what you really have, and how lucky you are <3

Depression is battling all your thoughts and instincts to complete even the simplest of tasks.

Depression is feeling drained of energy, even before you?ve spent it.

Depression is long hours of cyclic thoughts that point to yourself as the villain.

Depression is waking up to a world that moves too quickly for you to catch up.

Depression is using muscle memory to hold up a smile, all the while swallowing negative thoughts that sink deeper inside you.

Depression is being ashamed of yourself, for damaging the world around you.

I like how Kait Rokowskidefines depression in her poem "A Good Day":

"Depression, is a good lover.
So attentive; has this innate way of making everything about you.
And it is easy to forget that your bedroom is not the world,
That the dark shadows your pain casts is not mood-lighting.
It is easier to stay in this abusive relationship than fix the problems it has created."

It's a mood disorder and sometimes it takes us by surprise, we face it just as a phase, until it gets too much. And only the will to change and strength can help usto minimize and put it behind us, and even then, it willbe a long and hard fight.
