Officially, about ten years since I was diagnosed and medicated for anxiety and depression. But in hindsight, I think it's been there since at least my teens, possibly longer.

I've had a lot of ups and downs. I was lucky to get meds that worked for me first time, but I've wandered up and down the dosage scale a lot. I've done various types of therapy, and have a big toolbox of coping mechanisms.

I still have bad times, and right now is one of them.

But I've got through worse, and will fight my way through this again. I don't feel strong right now, but I know that strength is in me somewhere.

5years. I don't know who I am without the sadness, but I am learning to live with depression. It doesnt control me most of the time, and it won't have that power against me either

At least two years, probably more. I'm mostly doing better now with medication though.

6 years, give or take. Didnt go through therapy or had anyone to talk to, no medications taken. One thing led to another I walked myself out of the situation that has brought me down, stripped myself bare off what I thought to be the only option of life I had. I met someone so unexpectedly, and he flawlessly made me genuinely happy again. But what surprised me the most was despite all that, how much I welcomed him without a doubt, and how much I was ready for it emotionally. Truly, depression is a fog in your life. You have to navigate yourself in the dark for a while, but youll get out of it if youre determined enough. Let me tell you how beautiful it is from the other side, looking back. Hold on. Youll be alright.

Possibly since I was 6.. So basically 19 yrs. It got progressively worse as I got older. It would die down sometimes but come back with a vengeance. Even when I felt fine, it was always hiding there in the shadows
