I have been living with depression for about 2 years now. It started when I couldn't be woken up anymore. My parents would try to wake me up, but I just kicked them and screamed and fell asleep at anything, until about 1-3 in the afternoon, that's when i would wake up. And I wouldn't remember any of it. This stopped me from going to school, and no doctors could diagnose what I had. I've missed about a whole year of school because of this, which has caused me extreme social anxiety (not the disorder, I just mean I get very anxious and stressed about every little thing I say to people now.) And depression.

I got depression about a year or a half into not being able to go to school. Losing school days caused me to lose friends which made my self esteem get really bad.

I just want to get diagnosed. I just want to live a normal life. I'm tired of staying up for hours looking at my friends posts of them having fun at school, at sleepovers, at school camps and I'm stuck here at home, doing nothing. I miss my old life.

@Dollaria

It sounds like things are pretty rough for you now! I hope you are getting medical help? One thing I need to do when I'm feeling badly, is I have to stay off Social Media. I have to recognize my special vulnerability when it comes to judging myself, comparing my life to those on my screen. It sucks because I like being connected to my loved ones, but there it is. All the best to you, and I am rooting for you! Be well.

Over 10 years, can't remember exactly. First it was just melancholy and the blues, by 7th grade I was making plans how to end all of it. It got a bit better, but never to a "good" state. 24 now, and it's hard to accept this shithole will stay with me for life.

Since 1994. Well, diagnosed in 1994. Had it my whole life.

Most of my life. At least 30 years. Remember being a kid wondering if I really was going to make it to adulthood or whether i could just wonder off and disappear. Spent the last couple of years trying to find medication that works for me. Think I've finally found it.

As long as I can remember. I can remember having really bad episodes all the way back when I was about 6 or 7.
