My struggle with depression started a long time ago. I actually can't remember when it started, but I do remember beign around 6 years old hiding in the bathroom crying, regeting, hiperventalating and self-shaming me. There's a lot of things that have made my depression worse since then, but I'm pretty sure is a thing I may have since birth, after all some of my family memebers suffer from depression too.

My depression started when I'd been fighting for my health for so long I couldn't take it any more. I was finding work very stressful, was struggling to do any day activities, I had pain all the time and just couldn't take this life of mine any longer

My depression started started when I was 12 and my mother stopped listening to me. My dad isn't very talkative in general, but my mom just doesn't care about me. I tried to tell her I was depressed and suicidal but she just blew me off. I'm 18 now, and it is worse than ever. My parents and much of my extended family are Catholics, but I know that's not what I'm meant to be. I've been very seriously studying a different religion for over a year now, but my parents just see it as teenager rebellion against their values and won't take me seriously. I don't think they ever really hear what I'm trying to say and they don't relate to me or understand me. Sometimes I feel disconnected with my friends because I haven't found anyone that I really click with. I have high hopes for next year because I will go to college, get away from my family, and meet lots of new people, so I'm doing my best to hang on until then.

I'm 22. I don't know when it began but depression swallowed me slowly. I felt it and saw changes in my life. Very sad changes. I lost my friends. I tried to burn bridges. I isolated myself from them the way they're trying to isolate from me. I do think they were good friends but never really true to me. I kept one friend but i think our relationship is also starting to go down. I tried to make new friends in class but it just doesn't work and we'd stop talking after the semester ends. I slowly developed anxiety and found it very hard to interact with people. My self-esteem hit zero i'd rather they speak to me first. Although i cannot hold a sensible conversation anymore because i always try to run away from it when it gets awkward. I easily get intimidated even by my close relatives. I feel like I'm alone in life and will remain the same as i get old. my academic performance isn't that bad and i know it's my priority but there's a lot of things missing. Material stuff doesn't do the trick. My mom spoils me with them but she doesn't understand that i feel lifeless and demotivated by everything i see. I don't want to harm myself but i wish i could just die. I also hope my life turns around though.

I've struggled with depression since I was in high school, so for 10 years. Although I was never diagnosed until a few years ago. I wasn't raised hearing about depression and etc. It wasn't until 2014, after my mom died when I realized that i had depression and that it was okay to not be okay.

My depression started or call. Even to light after leaving emotional financial physical abuse makes me wonder if it was worth leaving or more like can't leave early can't stay situation people say he is so happy. How can one be happy after being so horrible that they get a parole officer shouldn't I be the one happy leaving good the abuse it's been a year now will I ever error feel at peace or happy again? Seems so unfair

@Mistified

Hes happy because he knows you're feeling down. People don't see your relationship as it is because he's a pro at hiding his real self. From my experience I went for counselling and it made me abit stronger, though I ain't 100% better. Some people can't go for varied reasons but there are other ways to repair some of your self esteems. I def understands your reasons for not leaving knowing you can't stay either. Its a hard decision to make knowing u have to start from scratch and knowing your husband, it's scary.

If u ever do have plans to leave, do not tell him. Just go while he's out and ensure u leave no tracks for him to find u. If u have kids take them with u and change phone no if they have mobile of their own so they can't ring him.
