I began hearing voices at 12 and slowly they dragged me down into a serious depression
@peachDay7574
i would like to know more about the voices you hear. Like what goes on in your head? I believe you I'm just curious about the subject. 🙂
@GarbagePusherD6T I've not been hearing them for a while now which i put entirely down to effectively therapy and antipsychotics when i needed them but they mostly told me to isolate and hurt myself occasionally they would add comments on the things I'd say or that i was in danger from people around me but mostly it was about isolation and self harm
@peachDay7574
did it seem more like your ears was hearing, or more of what your brain was telling your ears?
@GarbagePusherD6T i could hear it as if someone tall was speaking behind me
@peachDay7574
That would aggravate the hell outta me.
There were a few items that started my struggle with mental health and depression.
Due to my physical disability, I can't enjoy winter. I am prone to chest infections and the cold isn't a friend to my lungs. This limits my activities in winter; this became a struggle during middle school when my classmates would be going out for recess and such. To this day winter can be a struggle for me.
In middle school, my family dynamic changed. My parents split up and that definitely caused stress and depression. To this day, family stress is still a problem.
@Astoria2007
My 4 y.o. son has that problem with asthma in the winter/ early spring. I was fortunate I guess you could say because my parents have never separated. But many a night I layed in my bed praying they'd divorce. My daddy is very, very verbally abusive. Especially after drinking.
There are a thousand and one things that I can trigger my depression. Recently, it's been having to do with my college experience. I used to be a straight A student, now it feel s like I'm constantly treading water. I feel like I'm burned out, and worst of all I feel like I'm constantly being shown that I'm not good enough. Ironically, I'm a psych major, and I know the symptoms of depression but I've never been diagnosed nor am I severe enough for people to accept that as my reality. I'm constantly being told that I need to get over it, or that I'm overreacting and I just need to get up. It's so hard to explain that even though some days I can run a marathon and others it just seems pointless to do so.
@creativeShade334 Trust me I understand where you are coming from. When you are functioning depressed people don't see you as the "stereotypical" depression commercial. It's not about what people think it's about how you feel. That's the real part. I try to keep it together so hard on the outside, but we are the only ones suck in our own heads so. There is no one "look" to mental wellbeing.
I want to say that this question is two-fold for me. As I have always struggled with depression, I only began treating my symptoms within the last 4 years. A lot of things got better with meds and therapy. I struggle more than with the symptoms in the plan side of things with treatment options and the whole patient side of it. Obviously I'm very familiar with the experience of being depressed/imbalanced/anxious, irritable/phobic/paralyzed/panicked isolated, alone etc.... trying to take a straight headed approach to your own askew perceptions etc is seriously hard....I don't like feeling like I'm fighting my own self, and I also don't want to perceive that I'm giving up on myself either. I want to fight the good fight, but, which direction is that? Clearly, I'm currently in a turned about state and know I'll get righted once again soon enough. Thanks for the interesting prompt. As much as I hate to discuss it, there is a lightness after sharing my experience.
My personal struggle with depression began when my younger sibling adressed his suicide note to me. I'm blessed because he didn't succeed, but as he still goes untreated for bipolar disorder....I feel I lost someone. Feels kind of selfish to worry about me when he is the one really going through it.
@blueNest5196
I can tell you that your sibling is suffering. I have bipolar too. Keep a close eye out. Give as much support as you can. I've been almost as far as he went. I didn't get to the letter part. No matter what, in situations like this, WE AS HUMANS MAKE OUR OWN DECISIONS. I sure hope your sibling can eventually get help. It's a long row to hoe I can tell ya. If it wasn't for my meds and my wife, I wouldn't be here typing this message. Wish ya'll well.😇
@GarbagePusherD6T Thanks it's been almost 4 years now a few minor episodes since but nothing as bad as the first two. I understand unconditional love and that's why it hurts. Not knowing what is going to happen next, resentment, anxiety, displacement, heart break. It takes a toll on everyone who loves the person and I know they can't help it but so we live in fear until he gets help or spins out of control and hurts himself/or someone else?
Para mi han sido muchas cosas, desde abuso infantil, hasta estres monetario y familiar. Estoy luchando contra la depresion desde hace muchos años, estres post traumatico y ataques de panico. Solo quiero que esto acabe
I am not the guy I used to be. I was quite happy almost all the time. Before this girl came into my life. I first had a crush on her. But later after I knew she had a boyfriend I left that thought. Later we became very close... but lately she started avoiding me because she thinks I like in in some way. I'm struggling to explain her that it's nothing and it's a total missunderstanding. But she won't listen to me. I don't know what I'm supposed to do. My whole peace of mind is gone... my mind is totally vexed with the feeling that it won't be the same way like before... I don't know how to fix it... I've tried everything. I think all I made is to make it worse...
@olivePeach8845
I'm sorry that you had a misunderstanding with your friend and that she isn't willing to listen to what you have to say. Losing someone you care about like that can be really difficult and leave you feeling completely different than you had before. We can't always fix everything, but we are here to support you and be there for you when you need to talk. I hope things get better for you, mate. <3 -hugs-
When I injured my knee and Couldn't dance anymore
@AaliyahXOXO
Awww I'm sorry to hear that. What happened to your knee?
@GarbagePusherD6T it's hard to explain what happened to it hehe :p but
it still is bad
@AaliyahXOXO
id like to know, if you will.
@GarbagePusherD6T okay so I have jumpers knee (Patella tendinitis)... And my left Leg is growing quicker then my right and my left knee is the one that is injured. And all my Ligaments and tendons are Stretching and Some have tears.
My struggle started when I was 7/8 due to bullying and not understanding why my physical inability (disability (I really dislike the word)) kept me from playing with others and ultimately was when the harshest bullying I've encountered started. Along the way I've had other events take place that have enhanced the bullying and trauma/s even in the here and now that makes it hard to trust, allow people in and let myself open up, which is also changing for me day by day.

It started getting really bad after I graduated college.
