Hi, I'm Ro, a 30 year old woman who has been dealing with depression her whole life. I was diagnosed at 14 with major depression and dysthymia. After high school, I've been able to manage without meds or therapy. Lately, I've found it harder to cope and I can feel the tailspin begin. I recently got married and I've been happy, love my husband, hopeful about the future, but I also feel this emptiness that just can't be filled. Like a black hole in my soul.
If anyone wants to talk, I'm not sure what I'll bring to the table. I just feel like I need to talk, and not just to myself.
If you want to talk. Ill listen
Hi..I'm new here. I'm Tina, 46. I liked this site because of the active listeners - such a unique concept. To not be judged for once maybe lol. I'm had an eating disorder for 27 years (recovery for the most part for 6) and depression since forever. I had a very bad childhood and it just never seemed to totally change I guess I've had some good moments, not a good everything.
Today however is the anniversary of my second suicide attempt. It's been very hard today. No one knows. I'm holding it together for the most part at work. Only 3 people in my life know, and only 1 is pertinent and has forgotten that it was this day (a good thing I guess right?)
I've had a lot of trouble coping the last 6 months - a LOT of stress, so I guess the lead up to today shouldn't surprise me. I have booked a hair appointment even though I don't need one to keep busy after I get out of work (yes, messing around at work), but I will eventually be home alone. I'm hoping to come here and not be the only person at home on a Friday night. I don't to drink, and I don't want to obsess about food.
Thanks to all for being here.
I'm sorry for what you have been through. I'm glad you are here. Be strong
Hi I'm Bri, I'm 13 and have depression and anxiety. I would rather die then tell anyone in real life what's going on. Please help.
Bri, please know that there are many people out there that can help you and you would not have to declare who you are or where you are from. Help is close by.
Hi. My name is Jessica and I've been dealing with depression for about 14 years now. I'm very good at hiding my illness, but the facadecrumbled about 2 years ago when I landed myself in hospital twice for very serious suicide attempts. In addition to the depression I have issues with anxiety, delusions, and chronic suicidal thoughts.
When I'm not paralysed by my mental illness I work as a nurse (though it's been 2 years since I worked), and I spend time making fine art. I also play a lot of video games.
Nice to meet you all.
Hi I'm G,
I've suffered from hormonal an seasonal depression since I was a teen, I'm 50 now.
I have a lot of things going on in my personal life. I needed a place to talk and somebody recommended I try here. I have no friends to talk to.
Please be patient with me as I learn to navigate this site.
thank-you G
I posted this in the general introduction thread, but figured I would post here as well since more people here might be able to relate...
Hi everyone. I'm Cyan Kite and I'm new here. I just joined a few days ago...
I have severe depression, mild insomnia, trust issues, and low self-esteem. I am a cutter, even though it has been over 7 years since I last cut it is still something that I struggle with. There are days it takes all my willpower not to pick up a blade and start cutting again. I also used to be very suicidal. 10 years ago I actually attempted by overdosing, but was unsuccessful. (Obviously.) After my unsuccessful attempt there were times I almost tried again different ways. Then I met my husband and he is the reason I stopped cutting. He is the only reason I can find at times not to begin cutting again.
I went undiagnosed with depression for years. It is only within the past 3 years that I have finally been diagnosed. I'm now on two different medications for it. The meds help some, but not always. I still find myself getting extremely depressed, especially when I'm stressed about anything.
Even though I may seem like I have it all together on the outside, most of the time I'm falling apart on the inside. It's hard trying to keep up the facade that I'm not depressed.
Hi Cyan Kite,
I'm sorry to hear of the difficulties you face with depression, as someone who has been through depression and faced similar difficulties in the past, I can understand how much it can affect your life. If you feel you need to talk at all, you are more than welcome to send me a message, I'm always happy to listen.
Hi I'm Rebecca I'm 14 and I have severe anxiety and depression I've been trying to deal with it but I'm having a really hard time
Hey everyone,
My name is Patrick and I am 22 years old. I have had Major Depressive Disorder with Anxiety for three years now and have struggled with a lot. That being said, I am an active listener on this website and I try to use my experiences to help others with what they are going through. I spend a lot of my time chatting as a listener/moderator in the Depression Support Chat and I just wanted to get more active on the forums as I am hoping to become a member of the Depression Support Team :)
If you ever need to talk about your depression, anxiety, or other things you are going through, send me a message. I would be happy to talk.
Hi, my name is grace, and I am severely depressed. I've been depressed and remember having suicidal thoughts since 7, but have only been diagnosed this year, when I am 15. Im going to counseling but find it extremely hard to talk about my problems to my therapist face-to-face, so I've come to 7 cups of tea for more support.
Hi, I'm Kit. I'm 23 (soon to be 24 in April) and I was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder and General Anxiety when I was 16. I'm also trans and genderqueer (pronouns are he/him or they/them) and have struggled with gender dysphoria since I was 15. I've been on and off meds, and am currently on a regimen that seems to be doing okay in getting me out of the hole I've been in lately. I have an amazing partner who is extremely supportive, and she's helped a lot with my self-esteem in the year we've been together.
Do you feel that it's hard to express yourself freely?
It depends on the situation / what I'm trying to express, and to whom. Why do you ask?
