Let's face it, depression can suck big-time and in more ways than one. It can also make you feel like you're all alone. Here, on this site, in this forum, in this thread, let's each find a friend! Because you're not alone, this entire community is here for you.

So come along, post your name/username, your age, a hobby, one random fact about you and anything you like! If you want, maybe a little background regarding your depression?

NB. You are under no obligation to have to post any of the aforementioned, do whatever you are comfortable with, okay? You're amazingly strong, sweet pea.

Let's all find a friend!

My name is Dan. I'm 19 in February -- only telling you this so you can wish me a happy birthday. Health & Social Care Student. Dreams of helping make the world a better place, yadda yadda. Got diagnosed in 2012. Sertraline for nearly 2 years, sometimes I like to stop it so the world seems a little more real. Sedation gets boring, you see. Got blue hair. Hardly sleep at night. Have this adorable kitten called Willow who loves snuggling up with me at night and is always there in the morning. My guilty pleasure is listening to 'The Front Bottoms'. I'm mostly living in my head. My one fantasy world. It's rare those daydreams become real.

@sparklyseaweed

Happy birthday!

I identify with what you wrote about wanting to make the world a better place. I started out as an actor, and very quickly learned that I love teaching as much as I do performing. Now, I get to teach in elementary, middle, and high school residencies all over my state, (hopefully) teaching kids that their voices matter, and that their imaginations have power.

I've got depression, too. Diagnosed when I was knee high to a grasshopper. I was medicated for a while before I chose to discontinue my meds. I worked with my (hero) psychiatrist, and we developed a lot of great tools that could help with functioning day to day. I've carried those with me since I moved. I think the greatest tool of all is the ability to ask for help when the load gets too heavy to bear myself.

Hey, I'm Chris. I find it difficult posting personal things about myself but I'll see what I can do. I'm a 27y old guy and I like reading, playing piano, drawing, swimming, comics, and playing vidya. I never really had any friends or relationships... and am currently not really able to say positive things about me.

Having depression for almost two years now. Social anxiety all my life. Ended therapy three months ago when my therapist said she had absolutely no time for me anymore and that pretty much nothing but hospitalisation and taking meds will help me. And I'm unable to do that. So here I am.

I don't know if I'm able to have any friends. And allowing positive things for me. Maybe a distraction is the best I can do.

@kayku

Hope I'm not meddling but I was against hospital too but I agreed to go to a clinic after a year. It saved my life. For how long I don't know but I am so thankful to be able to live several hours a day free from anxiety.

I'm afraid to say my real name, but I'm a 26 year old Canadian male, my main interests/hobbies are old movies and video games, reading, writing, toy collecting, stuff like that. I love writing fiction but due to depression, laziness and a total lack of motivation I never write anything anymore.

I always had issues with depression going back to childhood. Usual kind of stuff, parents had a traumatic breakup early, never really knew my dad, had an emotionally abusive stepdad that would treat me like garbage (nowadays I have an awesome stepdad, he is not the same guy), no friends, bullied a lot, all that usual stuff. My main run of depression, I suppose, began about ten years ago, I got really sick from a muscular disorder when I was 15 that destroyed my body and left me temporarily bedridden and paralyzed. I can walk now but deal with constant pain and insomnia, but I'm a hermit, and the last decade of my life has been completely wasted and I don't have much hope for the future. I've been alone my whole life and I know I have nothing to offer anyone romantically, being an unemployed crippled loser, so I'm going to die alone, and I feel so lonely and isolated I frequently feel like there's no point in even trying to be happy if I'm never going to be loved. I only have one friend who doesn't even live in the same country, and she means a lot to me, along with what little family I have. So for their sake I keep trying because I love them and I'm desperate to be loved back. If it wasn't for them I'd really have nothing to live for.

I'm also really scared to post on here and talk about myself. I just know I'll humiliate myself and make things worse.

Hi there new to this and it scares me but I'll give it a go. I wish I could start this with something nice and light but nothing like that exists for me. From a traumatic abusive childhood, attempted suicide at 13 to family that hates me, bullied at school, to being married yet feeling completely lonely and alone

Most mornings I struggle to get out of bed. I can't talk to anyone because I have deep rooted fears of being judged. My depression as isolated me from so much in life. I'm socially awkward. Won't go to night out with work colleagues so the stopped Adkin! At any family event that I HAVE to attend I hide in the corner. I hate attention in anyway because I don't won't to be noticed but at the same time want someone to pay attention! I want to be good at something but can't handle anyone paying me a compliment. Someone says something nice to me and it hurts. It confusing. However treat me bad I know how to handle it. I'm comfortable in bad situations coz it's all I know and understand.

im a married women and my husband a stranger. He had a great happy life with a great family and struggles to understand most of ehat I'm feeling/saying/going through. I can't talk to him I can't tell him how I feel and I can't be honest. I'm married yet feel so lonely.

if anyone can relate in anyway please help. I jut need a friend.

Hello everyone. I love this thread so much I decided to participate!

My username is booklover95 but you can call me Su, which is short for my first name. I'm 22 years old and I'm from Portugal. I have alot of hobbies but my main one as my username suggests is reading(and writing). Sadly has been hard lately to read due to my depression but I want to get back to it much more! If any of you has a good book suggestion I'm all ears :)

A bit about my depression: Well I suffer from it since I was 10 with my grandparents death and bullying in school. Along the years got worst due to bad relationships and my dad was quite the bully about my weight. Nowdays I don't have as much negativity. I'm in a degree I love, I have a good boyfriend and I'm more loving about myself.

However my depression somehow got worst. My panic attacks are frequent, getting out of the house is basically impossible (except for classes) and I have no friends because of this. Sometimes I can't even get out of bed. But I have hope! ^^ 7cups really helps me smile and be positive! Soon I'm also getting professional help so that also makes me happy.

I can't wait to meet some of you guys here, everyone seem's so lovely and accepting

Not depressed at the moment but constantly sad, lonely, and self-loathing.

I'm Plum, 22 years old and currently studying for board exam of not-my-passion. I rarely speak in real life but I love writing long-ass paragraphs as much as reading novels so when I reply with someone's messages, I can't help but have a say on every thing the person wrote, repliable (if that's even a word) or not.

So, hi.

Hello, Im Carly. Im a junior in high school. I have a passion for volleyball and have been playing the sport for almost eight years now. I love traveling to new places, drawing, and star gazing. I have a Great Dane named Tillman who I love endlessly. My absolute favorite color is yellow and I have a slight obsession with sunflowers.

On my 17th birthday, December 20 of 2017, I lost a friend of mine to suicide. This girl was spunky and did her own thing. She didnt follow what everyone else was doing, she did what she wanted and didnt think twice about it. Her favorite color was also yellow. The color yellow has more meaning to me than it had before. I wish my friend was still here with us today. She had big plans and big dreams and I knew she wouldve gone far in life. I just wish she couldve seen that. Sadly, this past month, another student tried taking her own life AT the school. The accident left her unable to breathe on her own and days later she was taken off life support. This sweet girl wasnt even in high school yet. She had her whole life in front of her and it hurts me deeply that she isnt here to live out her life.

This past year has been extremely hard for me. Ive never really lost someone before.. Ive also been doubting myself and I feel like Im going nowhere in life. Im just kinda here, I guess. Watching others grow while Im just.. here. I apologize for rambling..I hope you all have an amazing day.

@Yellowsunflower351

I sadly lost a friend at the end of high school. His father had told him the engineer school that admitted him was not good enough. He left home and life. I still think about him especially when dark thoughts come.

I think these experiences make us aware of our own mortality, which is natural, but mustnt pressure us to live up to whatever expectations or to give up.
