Depression and Anger
I have been struggling for a while, but especially since the start of the covid-19 pandemic, with my mental health, and I've noticed it has made me very touchy and quick to anger. Every time I do something wrong, or someone disagrees with me and just makes me feel like I am somehow wrong, it makes me feel like a failure and a terrible person. I respond by getting really really mad. I feel complete rage bubble up in me and it makes me want to yell at myself or even hurt myself for being so stupid and embarassing myself by being wrong. Sometimes I don't know if I am angry at myself or other people, too, and I start lashing out at people I care about. I want to feel validated so bad in what I am thinking and feeling that whenever someone disagrees or thinks I'm wrong it hurts almost physically. Its making me so tired because it's one of those things where I don't know when it's coming or how to deal with it when it does. I don't want to keep equating being wrong, making mistakes, or even having a difference of opinion with badness, because it's hurting me and my relationships with other people because I'm so volatile. I'm talking to a counselor but I don't know how to bring this up without judgement, I would never actually hurt myself or others because of my anger, I know myself well enough. But the feeling is so painful and I hate feeling it. Anyone else who's depression or self esteem issues manifest as anger: how do you deal with it? How do you stop feeling this takeover of rage and hatred? How do you know when it's coming and what to do to stop it?
I'm angry at myself all the time and my useless broken body. All I seem to do is screw things up, make things worse or humiliate myself. All my opinions are stupid and I hate everything I like. So I can definitely relate to this. I hate being worthless. I hate that I'm me. I hate that I can't not be who I am. I'd rather be anybody else to have ever existed. Then I'd have at least one good quality. As it is I'm the most useless person ever and I hate myself and wish somebody would kill me.
