Food ideas when you can’t eat

Hi! I have been in a depressive episode this week and during these times I find it really hard to eat because I have zero appetite. I have found smoothies work really well for me during these times as something easy to eat and that I can passively sip on and kind of trick myself into getting something in my system. I am feeling up for going to the store today and wanted to ask if anyone has other ideas of foods like this that are easier to eat during a depressive episode or things to add into smoothies to get more nutritional variety?

Fruits, berries, and greens are all great things to pack into a smoothie!

@ruby820 Meal replacement brinks. I've struggled with many periods of nausea and also had times where I just didn't have time to eat normal meals.. Those were helpful.

Protein powder can also increase the nutrients you get from a smoothie.
Nut butters are great in some smoothies as well.

Omg this reminded me that I also like to drink those breakfast protein milk shakes! I literally was having those all last month and then it’s like I forgot they existed in my pantry.

sandwiches, there are very simple ways to make them and if you're not feeling well enough to make one, just eat the sandwich ingredients individually. It may sound silly but it is important to eat something atleast.

Individually eat the ingredients! That’s such a good idea. Sometimes bread can be hard to eat because it’s dry and takes more effort but just eating the other ingredients alone sounds like it would work.

I would say some bone broth, rice noodles and some grilled meats on top (optional vegtables). Sometimes just making something wholesome, warm and filling can do the trick. But if that is too hard remember you can add flaxseeds/yogurt/protein powder mixes to increase nutrient value and decrease amount of time and energy to get what your body needs when you feel low.
