How
How do I stop this? I know I should be happy but I'm not. I don't want to do anything. I can't eat, I can't sleep, I can't even enjoy being a mum. And it's not getting any better. I feel like if I wasn't here everything would be so much better for everyone. even writing has taken so much energy. Words just cannot explain to weight in my stomach 😔
I actually talk to a professional and it helps
Hey things sound really hard for you right now I just want to give you a big Hug, You mentioned you're a Mum i wonder how old your child is? Are you keeping in touch with your Health visitor and your GP? Sounds like you could be struggling with Post natal depression although I'm not an expert.
Children do take so much of our energy as they depend on us 24/7 is there anyone who could maybe help you out? whilst you have a little relaxation time?. What do you think would help you right now?
I can't tell you what to do I can only offer suggestions.
When I was recently feeling like a burden and like all I ever do is hurt people and like it would be easier for people if I wasn't here, a professional and someone close to me told me that even though we hurt people sometimes, being gone completely is so much different and so much worse. Something we can't understand without having experienced a loss like that. So getting help is always the answerno matter how long it takes and how hard it is to feel better. It will happen though if you let it, I promise you that! I hope things get better for you!!!
Sounds like things are really rough right now, I'm so sorry to hear you are going through such a tough time. Having to deal with being a mom must be hard when you can't even get proper sleep and eating is difficult.
I have had depression recur for me many times, and every time it starts to affect my sleep and eating, I know for myself that it's time to reach out for some outside help. Medication can sound scary, but it actually can be a very useful support in getting your system back into balance. It does not need to be forever, just until your system heals enough. I usually just take it for a few months, might add some therapy to help cope in the meantime. I too hate the thought of being a burden to friends and family, but they usually want to help, so if you can give them concrete things to do, like taking over some chores, doing the shopping, or cooking some meals it gives them something to do that can be helpful for you too.
This is not your fault, you're doing the best you can, and you are soooooo deserving of love and help. There are many options of what can start to help you to feel better, but only you know how you truly feel, so maybe talk over with a trusted friend or your doctor and make the decision of what sounds right to you. ![]()
I've been on medication for 5 years now. I tried therapy but i could never truly say how I felt. I'm terrified of being judge. I reached out to my mum but she told me to " get a grip!" And my sister says she doesn't believe in depression. I feel so numb. I really don't see the point anymore
Being on here and reaching out is so brave of you. I too fear being judged, but here everyone understands and knows that you are not to blame. We also know how truly painful this experience is, how real it is, and how challenging it is to deal with. Big hugs and I hope you can find some peace or relief soon. I was really struggling on Sunday, feeling completely hopeless and alone, it's so tough to go through it, but reaching out here and knowing others do understand for some reason helped me feel less alone.
Thankyou
You are most welcome. It's incredibly tough to deal when those around us simply do not understand what we're coping with. But you areSOdeserving of care and love and compassion.
I'm sorry you're feeling this way. I have experienced depression for quite a long time, so I totally understand how bad it can all feel.
I just want you to know; You're a child of this universe, as much as everyone else. You're a unique and amazing individual with an amazing future full of the hope you may feel lackingof now.
I really do hope things improve for you & that you're able to over come this! If you ever need someone to talk to, feel free to message me! <3
I feel completely the same as SadAmy. except, I am not a mom. I am just a young woman, who should have the best years in her life and enjoyit. I should be happy, I have lovely home, great husband, loving family... but I cant be happy, I dont enjoy anything, I just constantly feel so tired, no motivation, no sleep, no nothing... I cant to do anything. it really feels, like everything takes so much energy. just a simple getting outof bed, type smtg on computer... I dont do anything, not even things I love, I just cant make myslef to do it.I hate even being in bed, but I just cannot get up and its the least painful thing to do, just to stay there...everything feels so heavy, the whole world... I feel like I have no power over my body anymore...Im so lost.... just wanna know, how can I stop it? HOW?
Reaching out and talking about it, like you are doing here, is HUGE.It is a testament to how STRONG you are that you are still fighting, still seeking ways to overcome this, in the face of everything that depression makes us feel, both physically and emotionally.
I am still struggling with this, the HOW, even after facing this so many times. I have made many life changes, which made a difference, and this past episode caused me to start to doubt myself, and my ability to live with this. BUT so many posters on this site reminded me of the need to just keep going, that it CAN and WILL get better, and the many things that we all can do to move through this difficult experience.
Maybe right now, instead of thinking about stopping it, take this opportunity to examine what things seem to help distract, lessen, or lighten the load. A few things I noticed when I did this, which I then started to incorporate daily:
Create a playlist of music that you love and listen to it daily
Hot showers with my favorite lavender soaps - connect with your senses
Doing something, anything. If Iam overwhelmed with dishes, I just put away one cup. then I celebrate that victory. If I can't feel like I can go outside for a walk, I just walk down the hall of my apartment and back. Getting out of bed IS anaccomplishment, don't forget to celebrate it.
Your list may be different, and I have read a few that others have posted that have inspired me greatly. There are of course many big things you can do, therapy, medication, exercise, nutritional support, and alternative medicine practices, and if you are not already pursuing these, of course they are an important part of recovery. But above all, be KIND and GENTLE with yourself, you deserve so much love right now for what you are going through.
