How to keep negative thoughts at bay.
I find it a lil more difficult each time to not fall under control of negative thoughts trying to stay busy sometimes becomes a chore than a good pass time. Exercise is great but then wat u can only do so much. Seems at times u can't help wat ur mind is gonna do it wat direction it's gonna take u.
I'm new to 7 cups by the way
Hi Andy,
It's natural to have negative thoughts in this dark world we live it Rarely do i ever see or hear positive things I started watching positive Christian messages on u tube My favorite is Saddleback church Pastor Rick Warren He has many great uplifting messages
Yes I'm blessed to be a Christian and it has helped me find love, joy and peace during these tough times I'm spiritual not religious. I pray a lot too
I could ramble on forever but I have a busy day. I volunteer at my apartment complex helping keep the place cleaner It really helps me deal with all the negativity around me I hope this message helps you I will keep you in my prayers friend
Sincerely,
David 😎

Hello, first a tip: avoid replying to your own thread just after you post it because then it will get removed from the "Need Reply" list so it won't get as much visibility or replies perhaps.
Next tip, perhaps try some web searches like these
https://www.google.com/search?q=unwanted+thoughts+at+night
https://www.bing.com/search?q=unwanted+thoughts+at+night
For videos only, see here
https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=unwanted+thoughts+at+night
Note: Bing.com search for videos results are better because you can preview the videos directly on this page without opening a video. Just hover your cursor over the video of interest and then if it says "preview", then you click on the speaker x button to hear the video preview.
@Andy993 Welcome to 7 cups. I also struggle with negative thoughts. I try to keep up a positive journal and write 3 things that where good in my day. Sometimes i forget to do this.
Dont overthink

Hi Andy,
Fellow negative thinker here.
Yes exercise helps but that is just one tool. Sometimes just listening to life is good. Turn off the tv, the noise that disturbes. I find running water helps _ the beach, the river even the garden hose. Get outside. Listen to everything, count the sounds. Every sound has a place and every thought has a place. Above I see the suggestion to write down your thoughts. Take it further. Mind Map your thoughts, categorise them, sort them. Maybe even up the words with opposite words. I can tire myself with thinking about thinking to the point where I sleep or find a better distraction like a movie or book.
Life has good things too. Finding the good takes awareness and practice.
Good luck.

Hi Andy, welcome to 7cups 💕
I'm aware sometimes catching negative thoughts before it spiraling down further can be very hard...
I'm glad you're trying self help with exercise. Sweat does helps body produce happy hormones 🙂
Another thing that usually helps me is reading a non fiction book and watching documentaries. Knowledge is truly food for the soul because it helps to fill the hollow space inside that most everyone have.
Come join Sharing Circle (if you haven't already) 🙂 it's a 24/7 room where everyone is there to listen and support each other and take in turn to share stories if they want.
See you there?
