I don't even know what to think anymore

I'm new to this website, so..hello :3

Basically, for a few months I've been really concerned because I think I may have depression. I've spoken to a few friends and some believe and support me, but when I try to talk to say, people in the internet apparently there's a factor that means I don't have it. I just don't know what to think or believe. I think I just need someone who knows they have depression to tell me whether they think I may be suffering or not, because I don't want to make a deal out of nothing..

So I'll just list some symptoms I've been feeling..(this has happened for at least three months now, at least more severely.)

-most days, I feel really miserable, most of the time for no apparent reason.
-I always feel tired.
-I have lost interest in things I used to really enjoy.
-I feel very anxious/nervous a lot of the time.
-social activity is severely hard for me. I know it's not really a sign of depression, but it's got much worse since I began to think I had depression.
-some times I feel that life isn't worth living, and I always thing about disappearing or dying. I know I'm not going to commit suicide any time soon, but usually I think about it quite often.
-thinking about the future brings me so much distress and i get really frightened. I know I'm going to be a failure and then these thoughts generate the thoughts of "why don't I just die and then I won't have such a horrible future?"
-and last of all, I have lost a lot of my appetite.

Sorry it's so long. I just what to know what your opinions are and if you feel the same. :/

thanks for reading.. :)

Your picture made me smile!

even if you're not sure if you have depression you can still seek help and treatment as if you did until you (on your own or with a professional) figure out a better fit for you. It's definitely worth it to get support!

I understand what you're going through. It can be really hard. Sometimes depression is mild or temporary and sometimes it's more serious. And sometimes there are even really positive moments in the middle of it (as if the experience wasn't confusing enough). Do whatever you feel you need in order to start feeling better. You are not alone on this journey ;)

I feel the same way too. I've asked several close people and ask them do i really need to go to therapist and they think i exaggerate this stuff. I wish there's really anything i could do to.make you feel better but i'm kinda dealing with the same things. I feel tired all the days and i have no passion for anything but i stay up very late at night. I wanna die but i dont wanna commit suicide. I wanna leave but I'm affraid if i come back there's nobody wait for me. It's really frustrating. I hope i could become a robot to unfeeling this stuff :(

I'm sorry to hear that @violeteJasmine38. Being told you're "exaggerating" can be so painful and invalidating. It sounds like you were reaching out for support, and felt pretty rejected by your friends/family you talked to. Let us know if there is any way we can help support you right now. It sounds like things are really realy hard lately.

I'm glad you haven't wanted to kill yourself, but I'm worried about the fact that you want to die. If you haven't already, it might be useful to put some suicide or crisis hotlines in your phone so you can always have support, regardless of where you are (this is something I thinke veryone should do. I have three hotlines in my phone). It will depend on your nationality, but if you'd like help finding resources in your general area, I'd love to help.

I hope things get better for you soon and you can find the support you need.

@happywolf - those are definitely some symptoms of depression. Depression comes in many different collections of symptoms, and the stereotypical image of depression is just one of those groupings of symptoms. Just because your thoughts, feelings, and/or experiences don't fit the mold of "typical"or "stereotypical" depression, doesn't mean you can't be depressed. But even if you are never diagnosed with depression, it doesn't mean treatment and skills that treat for depression wouldn't be able to help. I have learned many things in therapy that I think everyone can learn from (I think tough @Thinker30 had some great points!)

If you think counseling services or psychiatric medicine might benefityou, you can always talk to a doctor about your concerns and a psychiatrist would be able to give you a formal diagnosis. If you are just working through this on your own rightnow, I think you can do a lot without a "for sure"label. You are going through hard times, regardless of whether it's technically "depression" or not. A label doesn't validate your feelings - your feelings are valid just because they are. I'm sorry that some people online haven't been very supportive of you. It sounds like that was pretty painful and difficult for you, to have people tell you it isn't depression or to in other ways invalidate your experiences.

If there are ways we can help support you on here at 7Cups, through resources and listenening ears, let us know, okay? Because regardless of labels, it sounds like you could use some support right now. Hang in there friend. I hope things can get better for you soon.
