I first noticed I was living with depression when......
I stopped doing the things I loved such as working out at the gym.
When I realized I didn't feel anything unless I was alone in the middle of the night so no one could see the real me
When I felt empty and was having panic attacks about little things like homework.
Tried to kill myself by slitting my wrists when I was about 19 years old
...when it was taking me 3 hours to do lesson plans that should have taken me 20 minutes. Then I noticed that everything was taking too long, that I had no energy or motivation. I thought that I'd get sent to a hospital.
When I started to feel absolutely hopeless and I would cry feeling like things would never change.
When I felt discontent everyday and it gradually got worse
When I didn't have energy or will power to do anything besides laying in bed. Would not eat unless I was starving, would not shower for a week. When I realized I felt so empty that I didn't care for anything anymore. I wouldn't mind if I went to sleep and never woke up again.
@WhiteWolf96
Im there right now! How did you move on?
@orangeClementine21 hello! Well, every person has its own way. I'm not the best person to seek advice from, since my life is a rollercoaster and I'm still struggling everyday. And everyone is different so I don't know what you are going through. What I can say, from experience, is PLEASE don't isolate yourself! And don't hide from your friends and family like I did. If there are people that are toxic, then yes, try to avoid them but don't be alone. I didn't answer calls and didn't reach out because I felt ashamed, and I couldn't accept that I needed help. Don't take people too seriously when they say to you "you have to make a bigger effort" because I know that sometimes it is insulting and I know how it is feels to be stuck like that, paralyzed mentally and physically and completely numb. But if a friend or a family member is able to get you out of the house or get you to do something, believe me, it helps a lot. My best advice to you is to get professional help (if you didn't already). I would think I could do it by myself, and I tried so many ways, and failed, when I ran out of hope was when things turned around (in my case I was diagnosed with OCD) and I started having hope and strenght again. And if you did get help and you're still struggling like I am, just try hard to find something small to do that you enjoy, do it everyday. And don't give up on yourself!! I didn't! I still have a lot of my bad days, but I go to the gym every morning and try to eat healthy. Apps like this one and "Habitica" may help you a lot along the way. I want to help you more because I know how it's like to be in that state but I really don't know how else to help you.
When I noticed that I was alone most of the time and lost interest in what I used to enjoy doing.
I couldn't stop thinking about the concept of death. I couldn't get out of bed, but I didn't sleep either.
