When I told my mother of my depression, she told me that I was choosing to be this way. That hurts. Now I know not to bother her with any of it. So what now?

Hey, I am sorry to hear that you don’t get your feelings validated, and even dismissed. It must be a bucket of cold water in the face to hear that said to you 😢. It feels like burden on top or burden to deal with such a situation. I am so glad to see that you have a lot of supports and cares here on 7cups 😁. It is so nice to see you Listened by many peoples. I hope you will get through this hardship soon, it is heart-warming to see many Listeners reached out to you, I hope your connection with Listeners will heal your wounds soon. 🤗

That really hurts to hear especially from your own mom but don't stop here just because she's not understanding you and all talk to people who actually get it your therapist or someone you trust. You don’t have to deal with it alone.

You are so strong for expressing how you feel, it can be really difficult when the people we love aren’t as supportive as we would’ve hoped in times we need them. If you ever need a open chat I am always here to listen🫂

I’m sorry that you had to experience that. It takes a lot of courage to open up and it must be hard not receiving the understanding you were hoping for. What you’re feeling is valid and you deserve support and compassion. I’m glad you shared this here. You are not alone and we are here to support you. Wishing you strength and kinder days ahead.❤️

Hey there, friend. It sounds like your mother is dismissing your feelings and depression and it hurts you. You feel like you can't talk to her about it without your pain being dismissed again, and I want to tell you, I hear you. I am so sorry that you have to feel this pain and feel like you don't have your mother's support in a struggling time. Do you think it would be better if you talked to another loved one about your depression? Would talking to a professional make you feel more heard since they understand points your mother can't? Are you willing to try it out, or do you not feel comfortable enough with it?

I'm so sorry. You're so brave for telling her! Your mother should understand and support you. Having depression is not a choice, and it's not your fault. Who do you think you could tell how you feel, and possibly help you go to a psychologist? Take care of yourself! You matter!
