Please help.
I don't even know if I'm posting this in the right place but I have no where else to go. I'm so severely depressed everyday is a struggle. There seems to be no point in living anymore. I'm too afraid to kill myself, but I would be fine with it if I were gone. I had depression in the past but it was all stupid stuff and this feels much more serious. Nothing has meaning anymore and all I do is sit and wonder why I'm here. I've lost faith in God(I am christian, or struggling to be one, I suppose). Sometimes I don't even remember why im sad. I'm very extroverted and the more time I spend away from social interaction and from people, the worse it gets. But either way, it's there. I've given up. I used to have hope that one day I would be happy but it's gone. I see no end to this and I feel like happiness is just unnatainable. I'm tired of living. Help. Please, dear god help me. I don't know how much longer I can live like this.
Hey there AndreaWykoff, I think I know exactly how you feel. I've been there quite a few times, and I know one can feel trapped and hopeless with depression. For me personally if I'm alone too long with negative thoughts that they tend to pile up to where I feel like I'm being crushed. You must know that there are healthy ways out of that mindset, you just need to find one that works for you. Talk therapy is very helpful for a lot of people, I find it puts a better more realistic perspective on your own thoughts. Also exercise and meditation are great, they help clear your mind and allow more oxygen to your brain that can make your thoughts more clear. You can get through this, it may seem like a lot of work or maybe impossible but it's not. Just start with one good thought, something you know you care about and work your way back up from there. If you need more help keep posting on the forums or talk with a listener on here.
Thank you. Yeah I am someone who thrives off of social interaction, and my depression gets worse the longer I spend away from people. I'm a singer, and I'm trying to work on being able to write songs, so that maybe when social interaction isn't an option, I can vent that way. As I said, my depression is off and on, and at the moment I am feeling a lot better. Thank you for the advice. :)

I would like to share a quote by George Eliot - "What do we live for, if it is not to make life less difficult for each other?" Try to involve yourself in some voluntary work.. See if it makes a change.Do let us know how you are :)
Thank you so much. My depression is off and on, as I said before, and I'm feeling a lot better at the moment. I will keep that in mind. :)

Thank you so much. That reply really meant a lot, and nearlybrought me to tears while reading. It just means a lot to hear that from someone. I really am feeling better today since letting it out in this post, talking to some friends, and reading all the replies. I'm hoping that one day I will be able to get out of the rhythm that im in (severe depression every day, in between times that I am in a good mood) and be able to just be happy more than half of the time. I feel like after getting all this support from people on here, it might be possible. I know it sounds dumb to have gotten back up so quickly, and maybe it's just one of those rare times that I am in a good mood, but you and everyone else who replied really helped give me some more hope. I'll be sure to come back and read these again if (and probably when) I feel so depressed again. Thank you so much. :)
I have been in a similar situation with my depression AndreaWykoff. Some moments it's manageable and some times I would rather not be alive. I agree with littleBIGrobotthat meditation isa very helpful thing. And I have meditated in church before. Tara Brach does excellent guided meditations and talks on youtube and podcast for free- she is a psychologist and brings in the perspectives of multiple faiths as well. In those alone times when relief is hard to find you can pop on a pair of headphones and listen to a meditation. I have also been told that physical activity helps, but I don't like to run or anything so I do yoga. I really like it now- it's like a physical meditation. Hang in there. And definitely keep writing your songs =)
Thank you! :) if you read my reply to the last person above, you'll understand a bit more about how I'm feeling after talking to all the lovely people on this site, and why I feel that way all of a sudden. I'm crying a bit while writing this, just with the thought that I've found a bit of hope. I hope my depression won't keep returning every day, and it will eventually stop happening so often. I'll definitely look into yoga and meditation, especially because I sometimes do get depressed about not doing a lot of physical activity in a day. It makes me feel a bit worthless and lazy I guess. I have a hard time giving myself a day off without worrying about it. So maybe that will help. :) this is probably going to be the first time in a month or so that I'm going to sleep happy, and I hope that it will effect my mood tomorrow and that maybe I can avoid the sadness for an entire 24 hours. I think that's a good goal for now. Thank you for yourcomment. I'm glad to know there are all the people on this site there for support when I really need it, which I did today. Xoxo
