Talking
I feel like I talk to myself to much, I actually don't have conversations with with people much, I maybe put in a few comments but I can't call that really talking.
I tried opening up to a friend a while back but they didn't understand why I was talking more so they took it the wrong way. I'm having a hard time trying again.
@HiMisterKyle Sounds like unf you caught your friend on the wrong day or something.
It's hard to put yourself out there and try to talk with other people. This is a good place to start, though.
And as far as talking to yourself - if it's worrying you and you'd like to stop, try some meditation to slow your mind down a little. Sometimes we go round and round in our heads and it's good to take a break from that.
Good luck. :)
@NothingGold thank you for your support. But its not that I found him on a bad day.its just that he didn't listen, everyone I try to talk doesn't really listen but rather look for key things they can respond.
Thank you for responding this post again. It makes me feel like I'm being seen and heard
@HiMisterKyle
I get what you're saying. Like @Muzik8me2 said, not everyone is very good at listening (which is really too bad!). And some people may be trying to listen, but aren't doing it in a way that makes you feel validated.
I've started realizing that there are some people in my life who I can count on to listen to me in the way that I need - really listen and care. Some people listen to me but give me advice and talk about what they would do, and that doesn't help me. There are other people who I talk with, but I've noticed that I start all the conversations, that it's usually all about them, and that I actually feel surprised when they ask me "How are you doing?". Those people may serve some purpose in my life, but I have tried to stop thinking of them as good friends, or people I can rely on for support. That's just not what our relationship is, and me trying to force a closer relationship is not a good way to go (I know because I've tried ;).
It's not easy finding someone who you can really talk with. But don't give up. This is a good place to start your search. :)
Good luck!
If it makes you feel any better, I've had many days where if I didn't talk to myself out loud, I wouldn't have spoken at all.
As for finding someone who will listen, look to volunteering. Research if there's anywhere close by for the poor, mentally ill, or old. Often, people in those categories just want someone to talk to, and swapping problems might just help you both out.
I talk to myself. My family do not listen to me when I talk to them.
