Lonely

May 22nd, 2016

I can't share my personal feelings with anyone (I don't know why) and I feel disjointed from literally everyone and I'm just alone. I can't even talk to my parents.

Dear @Chica233 ,

I'm sorry you feel this way right now, sweetie. There's nothing wrong with being unable to truthfully be honest about your emotions with those people around you. But, I can understand why you would feel isolated by doing this because you seem to want to be cared and supported by them at the same time.

Let me tell you a little secret, I feel the exact same way. I am not a very open person and I am always angry at my parents for not understanding. But it was my fault for not expressing myself clearly.

Although there's absolutely nothing wrong with keeping your emotions to yourself, if you want to be heard and understood, sometimes keeping a balance between communication and not expressing your emotions may be of help to you. I gradually learned to be slightly more open by writing a diary and record how I feel each day. Perhaps you could do so as well. By writing down how you feel, you might feel less confused about your inner emotions and learn to express yourself. Also, you could try participating in societies or activites that are of your interest so you could talk to others about the something without feeling disjointed.

I hope you keep in mind that you're never alone in feeling this way, and there are millions of people who also have the same dilemma as you. And I can't express how glad I am to see you here on 7 cups, because by posting on here you're making your first step towards being more open with others.smiley Feel free to connect with a teen listener here on 7 cups if you need some 1 on1 support okay? Some teen listeners here are really amazing. wink

Sincerely,

Lynnheart

I cannot stop feeling alone. I just don't have anyone in my life. I'm surrounded by silence which can be very loud. It was so beautiful outside and I just wish there was someone I could go for a walk with. I'm ugly and I know this is why I'll never be loved or with anyone. I'm tired of it all. Tired of being nothin. Tired of being alone. I cannot even remember the last time I was hugged.

@KLM3278 I'm sorry you feel that way. Unfortunately I can very much relate to your post. Besides my direct family I have nobody. No friends, no relationship (never), and it feels lonely. No matter how much you love your family and they you, you need other people in your life as well. My parents fight with me everyday about my lack of social life, which makes me feel even worse about myself. I feel like a failure for not having any friends. I never go out. I feel like my life is slipping by without being able to live it fully.

I hope you will realize you're not alone in your feelings and that there are many more people feeling lonely.

@Snowwhite95 I do understand that. On some level I do. But around me it seems like I'm the only one. Being alone is hard.

@KLM3278 I know how you feel. Sometimes it hits me even Harder. At some moments I get panic attacks because of loneliness. There's so many things I want to do, but I don't have anyone to do it with..

@Chica233,

I struggle with this constantly. I'm an introvert so I haven't issues even reaching out to friends/family to hang out, so when it comes to something personal or emotional there's no way I can just come out and say it.

The other responder is right on about writing things down. It has definitely helped me out. You might take it a little further, if you'd like, and write a letter to whoever you would like to share with. My husband and I currently do this and I've done this in the past with my mother. If there is something that I desperately need to share with them or something I'd like to clear up that's difficult for me to talk about, I send them an email. This removes the pressure of speaking face-to-face while still letting me tell them what I need to.

I hope this helps!

@bishylover This is one of the reasons I like this site. Only writing. I couldn't ever talk to people in-person about myself or feelings. I'm introvert to and very lonely. It's hard.
