Anti depressant how long to start working
I started taking Effexor about 7 days ago. How long does it take to see results
Hey @cupoffun, different people respond to medications differently and in various amounts of time! If you're having concerns as to whether this medication is working correctly for you, or if you're experiencing any side effects, I'd suggest speaking with your doctor about it as they would be the most knowledgeable source on the matter!
As someone who had used effexor in the past I would have to say give yourself at least a month to truely see how the medication affects you personally. I believe no one experience is the same but the side effects eventually got the best of me & I had to quit taking it. If your simply not comfortable with it, let your GP know right away...that may not be the right medication for you personally. Remember doctors can only diagnosis you as well as you allow based on your honesty of information given. Otherwise you leave them to guess diagnosis if you are too general and nonspecific.
I would also check with your pharmacist if you feel like your GP didn't answer your questions adequately. Pharmacists have a wealth of knowledge to share with us if we ask. I too would agree on at least a month, and also agree that everyone responds differently and that advice from a physician or pharmacist is best.

I know it's frustrating, but I think what your GP told you probably is true. It's a different medication I've been on but I know that I took much longer to feel the benefits than other people I've spoken to since. It's really working for me know though.
Some of these things can take a while so it's probably best to do what you've done. Raise your concerns with the right people (pharmacists tend to know more than GPs often) and just wait and see what happens. Best of luck with it.
It can depend very much on your chemical makeup and how big your dose is. But the usual time to see effects is 3 to 5 weeks. Watch out for side effects, and monitor your mood by keeping a daily journal. If you're taking any other meds, it may have a different time frame to work. Hope you feel better soon!
I started taking 150 mgEffexorin addition to 100 mg of Zoloft. I would say it took about 3 weeks before I thought I noticed it working. Sometimes I wonder if the meds are truly working since I'm still struggling but if you miss a day or two (I couldn't get my meds refilled in time once)you realize how much worse you are without them.It was a nightmare. Give it a fair shot and see if you feel any different. If not contact your doctor and see if they can add something to it or change it all together. I hope it's working for you.
It took me a few weeks to feel the effects. If it takes more than 2 months you should tell your therapist

I've been on Zoloft for years now and I think, initially, it took about 2-3 weeks for things to really get better. It really depends on the dosage they give you, too.
Usually 2-6 weeks is what I've always been told. It depends on how your body metabolizes the drug. It's not an exact science, unfortunately.
So far in life I've tried couple of meds (fluoxetine / sertraline) and it took me 3-4 weeks to experience their effectiveness.
