Do I need residential treatment? (US)
I'm only 15 and over the past two year I had been admitted 4 times to a psych ward at local hospitals for suicidal ideation and everything aong that path. The most recent was a month long inpatient stay. I improved after that and for about 3 months I was doing very good. Over the past few months I've slipped back into my depression and am almost the same as I was before I was hospitalized. I'm slowly becoming a hermit in my own home and my schoolwork is affected. My treatment team considered residential (living at a facility for usually a month or more) treatment when I was last inpatient but when I had finally gotten acceted anywhere I had improved enough to go home instead. We call them residential treatment centers here in the US, but anyways I think I might need that level of care right now. I've brought it up with my parents and my therapist but it gets dismissed because the process is too challenging and insurance might not cover it. I'm not sure if my therapist just flat out doesn't think I need it and she's not telling me but I think it might help. My parents were supposed to be looking in to different centers about a month ago and I'm almost certain they've stopped but should I bring it back up to them? How do I know if I even need this type of treatment? What if I'm just overreacting?
You've certainly had a bad time these past two years, and now it's like you're being left out of the loop when it comes to deciding what would help. Unfortunately it's impossible for anyone on the Internet to work out whether you need residential treatment or not. When you say you're not sure whether your therapist is telling you what she really thinks, it doesn't make it sound like your relationship with your therapist is as close and trusting as it should be. I'm wondering why it is you're asking these questions here instead of asking your therapist and your parents. Maybe the whole situation is more complex than it seems?
If you'd like to chat with me about these things and explore the options you might have, feel free to send me a message.

Only you, your parents, and your doctor can tell you if you need that kind of treatment. I am sorry to hear that you're going through so much at your age though. It should not hurt to bring it up to your parents again, if they were looking. It might help to let them know that you're interested and want help.

So update from my last full post on here: My therapist was supposed to tell my parents about residential and didnt last week but she's finally going to get around to it this sunday and I'm scared to death what the outcomes going to be but maybe I'll end up getting help? Idk how can I prepare for talking with my parents?
@merexdith
good luck. The chance of getting help is great. If you're worried on how to talk to your parents you could ask the therapist to be there when you do
