I have been two therapy before in 2018 and 2019.

But i am never able to do it properly, i don't tell everything to my therapist, and both times i was suggested to go through proper CBT but the tasks given to me were never completed by me and i used to lie about feeling better and getting better, going to the therapist started to seem like a daunting and tough task and i hated it , i hated lying but somehow i just couldn't bring myself to tell the truth ti my therapist. And both times i stopped going to therapy because it felt useless since I couldn't be honest.

Sometimes i am scared that what if maybe i am so used to being depressed that i don't want to get better that i have built me personality and my identity around my depression and anxitey as well and i just don't know what. Person i will be if i do get and better.

Can someone guide me on how I can do therapy better and how to get the courage and strength to go through therapy and how to be ready to get better.

@shySpring4931 It sounds like the kind of therapist who just gives you tasks is no use for you, because you cannot complete the tasks.

Maybe you need to find the kind of therapist who will help you to understand the way your depression and anxiety have become part of your identity and personality, so you can work on those things directly.

If telling your therapist the truth about your situation is a problem, maybe that means the therapist is not the kind of person you can fully trust. A different therapist might be easier to trust. I've heard that some people write down the things they need to say to their therapist before each session, and this can sometimes help to ensure that the important issues are addressed.

Finding the right therapist can be a difficult process of trial and error. Certainly, there are therapists who focus on understanding and trust, not on tasks.
