How has depression affected your sleep habit?
Depression can have serious and mild affects in our sleeping patterns or habit.
How has depression affected your sleep pattern or habit?
Will love to hear from you
I cant sleep and only fall asleep when I think myself into a coma or exhaustion. I have been trying meditation for sleep I found on Youtube for a few days now and it works sometimes. Its better than nothing! 🤷🏻♀️
Sometimes I can't sleep, other days I can't sleep enough. I feel exhausted no matter how much sleep I get.
makes me sleep 2 hours everynight if not less. aha yES (kill me plz)
A lot of the time I sleep too much but sometimes I get so emotional and worked up that I don't sleep enough. Either way, I constantly feel tired.
Sometimes I sleep too much. Sometimes I don't sleep at all.
Either way, no matter how much I sleep I wake up feeling utterly exhausted within an hour.
@River my sleep has been getting worse due to the combined stress and depression I have. Such as right now, I am aware that I have to get up very early for school tomorrow but I am still up and unable to sleep because while my mind is tired, it is racing at the same time. I seem to have trouble sleeping in certain conditions (such as I love sleeping with my window open but my parents force me to close it) so I usually get most of my sleeping time during class time/lunch. I get very irritable as well when I don't get a lot of sleep, and I haven't been the most healthy sleeper lately.
@lexyisprobablying this must be very difficult for you 😢
For me, it fluctuates. Depression and anxiety both affect different people in different ways, but when they are combined, it's nightmarish to keep up with. Some nights, I find myself feeling completely alone. Empty, desolate, aloof, disassociating because the internal pain I feel in my chest is too much to deal with. Crying until my eyes lose the ability to produce more tears. That feeling of absolute pain keeps me awake but makes me drowsy. I feel so distant from the world like I'm outside of my own body. As if I could just doze off and fade away into the darkness behind my eyes, but my mind is racing. My antidepressants make me VERY drowsy, which help counteract this. Usually, I end up crying myself to sleep.
But the anxiety is an entirely different story. The jitteriness, the fidgeting, the tossing and turning, the dry mouth and difficulty to swallow back all the tears, the tinnitus from my climbing blood pressure, the headache triggered by all the stress I'm inducing on myself. I can never sleep when I'm feeling that way. All the thoughts in my head, jumbling around, fumbling and falling into the thinking traps of irrational thoughts. It sucks.
Sometimes I sleep simply to avoid facing my emotions. I'll sleep for 18, sometimes 20+ hours if I can. Just to avoid being depressed. Other times, I go 48 hours without sleep because I can't get my mind to just STOP.

:(
Depression makes me sleep more than 12 hours
@DinaElwy same here. But it never enough somehow. Got tired again after 2 hours of waking up
@River I only had 5 hours of sleep last night..
I do not sleep as much, and my sleep quality is very low. I dream all night due to the rumination during the day and wake up exhausted.
