How to be with someone while depressed
I don't know, can you date while being depressed. I feel because I'm depressed I'm desperate to be loved and I don't know how to act sometimes when I like someone, I start thinking if I actually date them I'm probably going to bring them down so I don't try getting in a relationship. I'm isolating my emotionally and I'm not sure how to deal with that
So I tried to ask out this this girl I like today. I ended up being a friend to her. I don't. How I'm going to change this situation. Not. My first time in this situation
@HiMisterKyle I do definitely think you can be in a relationship while you're depressed, depression can make things harder but it isn't impossible. If two people bond on their depression, on what makes each of them sad, they can feel a lot more connected because of it. The important thing is that eventually, whoever you're in a relationship with should try to help with your depression and comfort you instead of misunderstand it or judge you for being sad.
By comfort I mean that when you're depressed, often you need more effort from your partner than someone completely casual. It's okay if what your partner says to you doesn't automatically make you happy because what matters most is that they intend to understand your mood and show you that they do intend to do what is needed to comfort you.
Like if your partner knows that you just want to be sad and cuddle with them, if they really love you and there's no reason why they can't cuddle, they'll do it.
I have been rejected a lot and I don't really know you but I don't think depression would be the only reason someone would reject someone. If they don't feel genuine affection for you back then that's okay because if you're brave enough to keep hoping and wait, as hard as it is, someone likely will like you back. We want someone to like us and understand us and when you meet someone similar to you in ways that make you feel comfortable, things get easier.
You don't need to be perfect in order to be loved because the right people will love your flaws too. But, in a lot of cases you can't keep hoping for someone who doesn't love you yet to love you now because it needs to be mutual. You get better things by letting go of the wrong things. Love is weird and random. Loneliness is why people persue love in the first place and I think that it often makes you fall for people easier just because you don't want to be alone. I think its important to think about what kind of person you want to be with and what specifically you like about your crush.
People are similar. If she doesn't like you then there's a good chance someone like her might. Love is painful because you have to wait for it.
This is from the perspective of a girl who's dating her best friend. We were friends for three years before we even thought about dating. There's always hope.
My girlfriend and I both have depression and although it's straining, it just makes our relationship that much stronger since we help each other through it.
I used to think that there was little chance that anyone would ever love me and then out of nowhere, I got a crush on my best friend of all people. It just happens one day, randomly strucks you and although waiting sucks, it just makes it that much better when you find someone who loves you.
