Lost of Interest from "Who You Are" due to Depression
I am wondering who else has felt this way and what they did in response:
Since I was little, creative activities and crafts were "my thing." I was known as the "crafty one"; people praised me for how creative I was.
In my teen years and up to graduation, crafts were my calling. I really loved creating. But then.. while I was in and out of depression, I slowly stopped crafting, until I stopped all together. I finally found the motivation to create again, and it's enjoyable.. But not nearly to the level it was before.
The same exact thing happened with video games; however, when I came back to it, I loved it as much, if not so much more, than I loved crafts in my childhood. It's the feeling I wish I felt with crafts again.. But don't.
I have slowly donated my craft stuff, but I still have a box left of my jewelry sets. I live in a very small apt, and the box is taking up space. I want to donate it, but I feel guilty if I do. Without crafts, the one thing I was assosiated with all of my life, what do I have to show? Who am I if I am not the "crafty one"?
Have you felt that way? You had a hobby or talent that you were know for, but you no longer enjoy, and now you feel guilty for wanting to move on from it. What did you do? How did you feel? Was it hard for you to come to terms with the lost of interest? Any advice for those still struggling and unsure what to do?
Thank you for reading this ❤

Hi Jazmine! 😄❤️ Reading your post was comforting in a way, because I felt like I wasn't alone facing this! 💞 I used to love daydreaming and creating stories and that feeling of accomplishment that I got when I finished my stories was the most satisfying thing ever! Though about a year ago, that passion kind of started to fade, and even now I don't feel it that way like I used to. I was really upset about that, as if I couldn't unlock the hidden potential I once had. These days, I've decided to try to enjoy making stories. Even though it's not as enjoyable as it used to be, I guess I can try. Maybe it'll be like that again one day. ☺️💞💞
One thing to remember is that deep down you're still you, even when you don't feel like it. ❤️❤️
Thank you for posting this Jazmine! 😊😊💞 And good luck to you and everyone else who feels like they've lost interest in their favourite activities. 🌟
@RainyMemory97 Am glad you're still pushing through. I hope one day you'll feel more enjoyment. ❤
However, for me, it's becoming more tedious than ever. I did recently come to the realization that we are apart of nature. And nature, naturally, changes. Maybe it's just something I need to accept as a natural change.

Thank you ❤️ And I see your point about changing as a part of nature. ☺️ I hope you the best of luck with your journey of acceptance. I hope you have a great day! 💞💞
Who I am is garbage. I wish I wasn't me anymore.

I have one I may as well share.
*TLDR: Crushed by feelings of inadequacy and being overwhelmed, fear*
Growing up through secondary school I was known as the 'German guy', not actually German just someone who was high achieving at German language for my age. I was pretty average at most other things in comparison but could see that I was ahead of the other students in that particular subject. It felt like it was the thing I was supposed to do, so I pursued it into sixth form. At that point I met other students that must have been the German guys and girls of their school, as I began to feel a little out of my depth. Despite this I persisted with only hints of inadequacy creeping through. It's only when I get to University in hopes of becoming a translator (bizarre choice I know, many germans speak better english than us brits these days), that I felt I was beginning to feel very much out of my depth. Most of the room felt godlike in comparison to me who had just finished a working gap year and was out of practice. I knew what my weaknesses were, but I was never the best independent student even back in school. I soon became overwhelmed. Not by the German on its own surprisingly, but the amount of elective studies on the side, the business half of my degree that I had to switch to entry level spanish. Those were enough, but then I was faced with what turned out to be my worst fear at Uni, presenting in a 2nd language to a room full of people. I couldn't bring myself to do it. Instead I broke down and luckily got to do it in front of the teacher instead. She warned me I wouldn't have this privilege next year. When it came to Spanish I was faced with this fear again, and once again I was crippled. I quit University on my 2nd year in the last month of exams as I couldn't take it anymore, all the stress had gotten to me mentally. Since that point I never bothered to keep up my German and lack career direction beyond low paid jobs. I was crushed by a feeling of failure and inadequacy, what I thought in my mind had come to pass.
TL, DR: Despite leaving an abusive relationship after more than a decade, I am no longer the person I used to be.
For most of my life, I loved reading books, playing video games, dressing up, and spending time with friends. Sometime during the summer of 2008, I fell for a guy who I thought was Prince Charming but turned out to be the opposite. He was very controlling in every aspect. I couldn't have friends, a job, dress how I wanted, or express my own opinions. As a result, I became very depressed and lost interest in my hobbies. After ten years of being controlled and manipulated, I ended the relationship. I thought I could celebrate my freedom by falling back into my old interests. Instead, I feel a void in my life and I'm definitely not the person I used to be. I often mope around the house and outside my immediate family, the only social life I have is my job at a retail store. I miss the old me and I want her back...
I used to be passionate about design but not so much anymore so now I'm trying to find something else
