When I'm really depressed, something peculiar happens.

I look at my surroundings and realise how truely insignificant I am in the grand scheme of everything. While at the same time I'll be hit with my brain working overtime giving as much science behind everything that I can remember.

I feel I overthink about everything especially lately ...small and large decisions out of habit and out of fear of making the wrong decision, not pleasing others, not trusting myself and going in circles and self doubt.

I'm on the path to discover how not to overthink. Making small and big life decisions... What strategies do you guys use to get out of overthinking and use your gut/intuition to make both small everyday and large life changing decisions?

@Hp4ever

I have some strategies I'm working on now. One specifically. Like give myself like a timed amount of time for super small decisions and ask myself what makes your heart Happy? You happy, not others? And I sit and meditate without really thinking of the answer until the end of the timed session ends. Again this is new for me and only when I feel it's a small decision I'm obsessing over that's not really important. Like which computer to get hahaha. First world problems.

Or today what to do with my students I have and now need to make some changes. Decision was continue teaching them or not. I actually used a more rational approach today to make this decision (no meditation). Asked myself what do you want... Teach your students or let them go and asked myself what do you really want? Not them. Because I get overwhelmed by doing what's right for everyone, especially when change is hard and you've become attached. But can't make everyone happy. By the end of the 10 minutes, I came up with a solution that made me feel I didn't have to keep going. Took action to tell them so I couldn't change it. Done.

And then with these small decisions reduce the amount of time for the decision bit by bit. Then take it to bigger decisions like gaining momentum. My hope is that this will uncloud my mind by gaining confidence with practice and pushing aside constant self doubt and rumination.

@RedHawk6547 same. The truth is you can never know so I try not to think about it much cause it usually leads me to panic attacks
