One thing that triggers my depression is....
Putting in all my effort and getting nowhere. Feels like I wasted my time and energy, and that makes me feel stupid and useless so it triggers my depression.
@intuitiveOcean6666 I can relate to this a lot.
My parents' divorce
Watching others go farther than me in things
The thing that triggers my depression when something bad in the family happens like a funeral. And A lot of the family have fallen out.
@Roses1973
Yes that is the most depressing thing :( :( I am facing it too...My family has been very week now a days
Negativity around me depresses me
Everything, even things that make me happy sometimes depress me.
excessive loneliness which occurs every day. seeing couples enjoying each other. hearing about people i know who are getting married or having kids or simply expressing contentment in having an overall successful, fulfilling life. not that i resent them for their joy. but i feel so far apart from it and it's like im not even part of the same species. i see all around me people who are able to thrive in this world and achieve the things i want so badly but feel incapable of ever getting it. it triggers my depression because it just reminds me more of what i don't have and how much of a pathetic failure i am. only death can cure wasted garbage like me.
@hollowman84 You articulated how I experience disability as a result of depression so accurately. "I feel so far apart from it and it's like I'm not even part of the same species." Me too. Realizing my current limits that keep me from the life I want to live hurts. It feels terrible and triggers my depression too. I'm sorry you have to struggle in this way. *hugs* Please know you're not alone.
@Zeraphim thank you for sharing this with me. There is comfort in feeling empathy from and for others. I am sorry you are paralyzed by this vicious disease of the spirit depression as well. it murders life robs us of every opportunity to feel good or embrace life. drains the colors from the world makes everything feel sad and pointless, no matter if you're at the beach, on a stunning mountain peak, at Disneyland, at a fancy restaurant-- or more likely alone in your private zone. cuz being so alone makes going out and trying to enjoy yourself feel like a totally pointless exercise. and it often only triggers more pain. being alone out in the open in front of the rest of the world whom you're separated from only makes it feel a million times worse. i won't even go to a restaurant to eat by myself. ive done it before and it's depressing. and so why put myself out there. there isnt much honestly i want to do out there being so alone all the time. so cut off. so im hardly even living life. it's a never-ending cycle and it seems like there's no way out. i hope things get better friend. both for you and me.
Getting behind in things I need to do, or being alone of too long. I hate being alone inside my head, it's bad for me.
Incompetency. That's it. In all walks of life.
@Phoenix1290 i know what u mean. that's how i feel. totally incompetent at life itself. like im just a failure and im failing in every way and im an embrarrassment. like i can't figure out how to make it in the world and i never will. how can i feel good when i dont even know how to get anything i want from life. all i do is fail. im a joke that isnt funny. more like an attempt at a bad joke written on a tiny scrap of paper thats wadded up and thrown in the garbage and just needs to be burned.
me
Indulging in depressive behaviours ("Eh, I'll do that later. And that too. I'll just give up and go to bed.").
Feeling behind in life compared to my peers, mourning lost opportunities as a result of depression, anxiety, and PTSD.
Struggling so hard to do the most basic of things and failing to even accomplish one completely.
Seeing all the dirty dishes I've neglected to do.
Staying unbathed for too long.
Bad memories and flashbacks; either triggered by a prompting event, through dreams, or randomly.
Letting someone down, failing their expectations.
Comparing how I function now (poorly) to how I could function before (better).
Feeling alone and isolated.
Feeling judged or harshly, unfairly criticized or punished, by others or myself.
Realizing someone doesn't care about me as much as I thought/ as much as they should (in the case of my mother), the loss of a relationship or another sad event.
