@Ledzeppers784 I'm sorry to hear this, it's really tough to feel misunderstood and also like you aren't making progress even though you're trying so hard, but I'm glad you've reached out here! If you could explain one thing to someone that you wish they understood better, what would you want to express? Do you have any other outlets for getting your feelings out - writing, art, music? Do you find that the people you reach out to are supportive even though they don't seem to understand fully?

If you'd like, you can connect with a listener one on one - a lot of listeners here, myself included, can relate to what you're going through and would love to learn more about you! We also have some helpful guides on anxiety, depression, and ACT Therapy that you might find helpful. Some people also find it helpful to discuss these issues with a professional therapist, who's trained to help you explore the deeper causes of your pain and to make steps towards overcoming it. If that path is something you'd be interested in looking into, you can search for a therapist near you here.

Ultimately, everyone experiences anxiety and depression for different reasons and in different ways, so the best way for you to help yourself is unique to you. Is there anything in your life you enjoy doing? Any hobbies or activities? Any goals you have? For me, attempting to increase the things that bring me closest to my best self help to ease the effect of those issues a bit, perhaps you could explore that further.

The fact that you're here reaching out means that you're ALREADY helping yourself. It's a big first step to put these feelings out in the open and I admire you for doing so! Wishing you all the best.

The one thing I wish the people that I reach out too and are supportive to me understood was that when I selfharm it's not for attention an and a d other reasons. When Im stressed out or sad I talk and reach out to friends, go for walks, write my feelings on paper, draw about my feelings, listen to music, and work out. My friends and gf are supportive when I explain or reach out although I don't think nthey really understand how I really feel or get triggered. I go to my therapist weekly he understands me and we have goals set and a treatment plan. My self goals is to find good coping mechanisms and use the self help guides to help me get throught how Im feeling. I enjoy hiking taking nature walks helping others.

I know what you mean, it's really great to have people to support you, but it's even better to feel like they actually understand what you're going through. I'm sorry that anyone has made you feel that you're seeking attention, I think everything you're experiencing is valid and I'm glad you have people like your therapist to help you work through it all. It sounds like you're using many great tools already; I admire your determination!
