Holiday Coping Tips
Tips on how do you cope with the holidays when you are depressed or lonely
I find that taking time for myself is the best coping strategy! Every day I take couple of minutes to just relax and feel good about myself despite the holiday season.
Really good question, and great answers!
I echo what others have said, especially getting involved with others! Sure, depression isn't going to go away just from being around other people. But anything that gets you out of the vicious cycle of your own mind is beneficial! It takes a lot to take that step when you're depressed, because you don't want to be around people. But it's a brave step!
I know that the holidays can be hard for many. I always believe that keeping busy can make a difference. Visit a friend, connect with family, or volunteer somewhere to make a difference in someone else's life. Try to focus on goals or pick up a cool hobby like jewelry making or practicing a new instrument. Embrace anything that is fun and adventurous.
