Living With Depression: Losing Interest and What To Do About It

Depression: I suffer from that and I realize that I am not alone. Sure, my life may not be so bad but, again: I do suffer from depression.
While I am doing well in fighting my battle as are many others with depression out there, sometimes there are parts of our battles that are a little rougher than others. Im specifically speaking about the fact that we depression sufferers can lose interest in the things we enjoy the most.
For example, I very much enjoy drawing. However, I did go through a point where I would not even touch my sketchbook. But, this was not the way to go. In fact, Discontinuing your regular activities…does not help loss of interest (Allaboutdepression.com, 2015).
The best way to fight that loss is to keep on pushing through, pick up your pencil and draw, pick up your book and read, or whatever it is that you truly do enjoy doing. It is best to go through with your regular activities(Allaboutdepression.com). Do not let depression take them away from you.
Also, while shutting everyone out might seem to come naturally at times and especially during bouts of loss of interest, withdrawing from family, friends and overall, isolating yourself is not helpful (Allaboutdepression.com). Because while we all have our haters, distancing ourselves from those who, may not understand our battle but, are the ones rooting for us and turning to them for that very support is better than not.
Keep fighting the good fight, you will get through it!

@Jenna
I can completely relate to this. Sometimes I feel like just blocking everyone out and dealing with things all alone. I lost interest in practically everything I used to love to do but now I try to do something I like every day ^-^ Thanks for sharing!
@Jenna I can relate to this. Recetly i've lost interest in pretty much everything i usually love to do : Dancing, Pilates, Yoga... I try to do at least one thing everyday, it's really hard but i keep fighting.
@No715
What lovely things you have an interest in. I'm sorry that you haven't been able to have motivation for these things, and I'm proud of you for still trying even if it is hard!
@Jenna Thank you !
Thanks for sharing i can relate at times too
Hello there... You know, I've never been diagnosed, cause I've never had the opportunity to visit a psychologist, but I'm 99% sure that I have depression, or at least something similar to it.
I actually never thought I'd find a thread like this... I've been feeling too lazy, guilty, useless and worthless lately... Just as @Jenna I love to draw, and becoming a Concept Artists is one of my biggest dreams, but just the idea of picking up a pencil destroys me. I feel guilty for it. Like I'm just wasting my time. I admire other people work, and I want to do the same, but just thinking I need to draw before I get to that point makes me feel like the worst artists in the world, and I feel guilty again, if I draw I feel guilty, and if I don't it's the same. I juat feel I'm wasting my time both ways. Taking care of myself ia becoming harder, I used to care a bit of my physical appearance, but now I just eat, and eat, and eat... And I don't feel like returning to my healthy eating... It feels useless, you know?
I guess I truly am doing wrong. I've been feeling like this for months, possibly years, but I guess it's striking harder these days.
@Jenna. Thank you for sharing this, I struggle daily, sometimes I have good weeks, and then I will slide back into depression for a few days or weeks, it is difficult when I have no support at home, I try to rise above the negative around me, but it seems to always be a struggle. Mostly I want to be alone, sleep and just not deal with reality.
