My Father Loves To Throw The Bible At Me

My father always wonders why I never open up to him and why I always seem so sad.

But when I do, he essentially just says, "Suck it up, read the bible"

Right. I've done that. I don't think reading a book that like to say things that make me feel inferior and even more depressed is going to help, but thanks dad.

My mom, is super chill. I really want to tell my parent's I am trans and a guy. But my dad would never accept that. My mom might be fine, but my dad.. no.

He is the reason I hate being at home, because It's on the tip of my tongue to come out, but I can't, because he was probably yell at me and get me in trouble and stuff. If I'm lucky, that's all he'd do.

I never feel safe with him around, and I don't know what to do. Sometimes I wish he never existed, or my mom when divorced him when she really wanted to. I can't voice my feelings to my mom, because she will probably tell my dad.

Uhm.. help? Eh heh..

i understand your feelings, it’s might be really hard deal with transphobic parent, but remember that no matter what you are beautiful just the way you are, if you are completely sure that you will receive the support of your mother, can you share it with her? Of course, only if you are sure that everything will be in order, your safety is most important. If you have friends whom you can trust, this is also an option, sharing your feelings is very important and already a big step.

@BreadAndTaxes- welcome to 7 cups. There are several sections on this site that can give your support for your issue. You can connect on the LGBT chatroom; or look up a listener under "browse listener" for one who is familiar with trans and family support. There are also forums under that same topic. I wish you the best. Take care.

Firstly I am so sorry you have experienced and are experiencing this. This hit home for me bc growing up my younger brother was belittled by our dad for his sexual identity, and our dad weaponised the bible too. Our mom was just like yours too. But over the years I have watched my brother blossom into himself and embrace who is. It took some time for him to come out of the shame that was brought upon him. But through finding his community and surrounding himself with friends who love him as he is was probably one of the main things that helped him get through. So my advice to you would be - even though you are going through something that is beyond mentally and emotionally draining and that is taking a toll on your emotional/mental health, I want you to stay strong even if you feel like you cant bc you will find your true support system. Sounds cliche I know, but I really do believe better days are to come, just like I had hoped for my brother. I see and hear you. Sorry if this is offensive in any way

Hey, thanks for sharing. I don't know if we have permission permission offer any advice here because I'm not a professional counselor or anything. But I want you to know that you are heard. You are not forgotten. And you are not alone even if you feel like it. It will be ok. Please don't lose hope. And know that there are listeners here who are more than happy to talk with you. Your dad probably wants you to share the same faith as him, but the way he attempts may not be the best approach. But I I'm sure he means well. I hope you find the comfort, love, and peace you are looking for. And please feel free to watch this short video for encouragement: https://youtube.com/shorts/f4W4zSa36jk?feature=share

@AlwaysSecondGuessing

hey man, your situation sounds tough. As a Christian i'm really sorry your dad is ignoring you and your feelings and trying to use the Bible against you. The Bible says that parents not provoke their children. You are a wonderful person and I hope you can get the support you need soon, please hang in there. There are LGBT chatrooms on here and there is always the Trevor Project if you need to chat with a counselor there. Take care, friend.
