I don't know what to do
Are there any free alternatives to counselling/therapy? I've been struggling with depression/depressive episodes that have steadily gotten worse over the year. I tried going to therapy, but the only office that accepts Medicaid that I could find is an hour away, and I don't drive, so it's too much to ask someone else to take me. There is another one in my city, but there's only one and my brother goes to her, and I read online that therapists aren't really supposed to see two members of the same family, so I need to find something else. Is there anything I can do to help when I get really down, or to help my depression on my own? I can't burden anyone I know with my problems because that isn't fair to them, so I need something that I can do by myself.

Where did you read that? Was it an actual good source of information? Because if it was online, you can't believe everything on the internet.
I think would be better to try the one where your brother goes, than to not have any help at all.
@practicalMoon2010 A therapist once told me that treating two members of the same family at the same time doesn't work well, but treating one after the other completes their therapy is OK. It sounds like you need some help right now, so you do need to find another option.
Depending on where you live, you might be able to find a local helpline that you can call to talk to someone when you feel down. Some of these call themselves warm lines. There's some more information here: What is a Warm Line and What Should I Expect When I Call One? And there's a list of them here: Warmlines If you search the Internet you might be able to find other sources of help, too.
You can also chat to listeners here at any time, of course. If you'd like to chat to me, feel free to click on my profile picture and message me.
