Lonely for years...
I've been extremely lonely since my now ex wife left me for another man. My fear of being physically near people I don't know and my fear of failure and rejection has kept me from having the confidence to change this. I'm afraid to become attached to anyone because I'm afraid they will just leave.
@Ravio90
I am sorry to hear that you have been feeling lonely for so long. It is an unpleasant feeling to have. Feeling like someone may leave you due to previous experiences is understandable and is your brain's way of protecting you from future heartbreak. Have you looked into maybe volunteering some where in order to meet new people or reaching out to family?
I'd recommend taking a look at 7 Cups' loneliness self help guide, it may be beneficial. I hope things start feeling better for you soon ♥
@SilentSerenityy with my job I don't have time to volunteer and my family either isn't helpful, has there own issues to deal with or is dead. I don't mean to drag in the gloom but it's true and part of my other issues. I'm a very broken person and I doubt people want a future with damaged goods.
@Ravio90
It seems like you've been through a lot, but that doesn't mean you're broken or damaged goods. :) If you can't volunteer or speak to family or friends, then I'd recommend asking for some therapy from your doctor or speaking to a listener here. It's important to talk it out with someone so you feel supported. :)
@SilentSerenityy I never liked the idea of medical help, I also don't like meds bc of prior experiences as a kid. Maybe a listener would help but I feel like it may just end up me dumping everything on this person and they don't deserve that.
@Ravio90
You're not 'dumping' it onto someone. Volunteers here want to listen and to help you. :) They won't feel like you're doing anything bad/wrong by sharing your emotions with them. Worry about yourself and your own feelings and the help you deserve!
@SilentSerenityy I suppose they are choosing to listen and help but I still feel like a burden.....
@Ravio90
I can understand that feeling of being a burden, but being a burden and carrying a burden are two different things and you're not a burden. A problem shared is a problem halved. Speaking to someone may be really useful to help you recognise how you're feeling and guide you to make changes in your own life to make things better for you. Have you spoken to a listener here before? :)
