November Check In

User Profile: AffyAvo

We're going to have a month long check in thread as some of the disability team are on self-care breaks. We will likely go back to a weekly format in Dec or Jan. With all check in threads you're welcome to post your check in more than once, answering as many or as few questions as you like each time.

1. What do you do to recharge? I usually like to take walks on my lunch break and walks on the weekend. The are wonderful to get back that positive energy I need to continue with my work and life. Nature has a way of doing that for humans.

2. How does your 'charge' level tell at this moment? My 'charge' level is neutral. Neither half empty nor half full. I guess I could go either way depending on what is occurring in my life. I would prefer that it go up; but I can handle it going down as long as I do my guided meditations to get me back up to where I belong.

3. Is there anything going on that you would like to share? I'm currently engaged in work issues and how to resolve them so I can be a better person at my job. I'm also working on my relationship with my fiance so that we have a better understanding of what we want out of our bonding.

Hi @xandia. Taking walks and meditating are great ways to recharge ourselves! I am sorry that work isn't going 100% exactly the way you want it but it sounds like you are taking the steps to better yourself. Thank you for sharing with us!

The way that I recharge is by taking a bath. It is so easy for me to just sit and be quiet and use the time to think about everything that is going on in my life but also to be kind to myself. I particularly like using bath bombs and Epsom salt, but if I don't have those available, just soaking and putting my mind at ease works all on its own. I'm in control of all the scents, and stimulation that is present when I'm taking a bath and that kind of control over the situation truly makes me feel better.

I never thought about a bath but that does sound relaxing, especially if you add scents!

I actually don't have proof that l have a learning disorder. In highschool they diagnose me. I need to go to a therapist that will give me proof so l can go back to work. Managers called me lazy. My disorder makes me look lazy and l don't get hired.

@SisiRomo1996, I am so sorry people are calling you lazy and that you can't get hired. I can understand your frustration as I had to go back and get tested for some things myself. I ended up with the same diagnosis but without proof they didn't believe me. While others may think you are lazy just remember that what's most important is that you know the truth as to who you are. They may see lazy but you know you are giving it your best.

@AffyAvo

😂 The cord coming out of my brain has the wires in it shorted out. The outlet it is supposed to be able to plug into burned out from an electrical surge without it not installed correctly, long ago.

What do you do to recharge? Sleep if and when sleep is possible, of which I feel blessed for any and all sleep. I also recharge by have as much quiet time alone at home, which is very helpful for me.

Sleep helps me as well. It is relaxing and allows for our bodies to mentally and physically recharge.

I often sleep while recharging. I have a lot of physical conditions that leave me exhausted. Sleeping for a few extra hours here and there really seems to help me recover as best as possible. Right now I feel at about 30%. I've had a lot of health issues in the last two weeks to the point my body has had enough. I'm just taking the next few days to rest and enjoy the time with family.

I deal with chronic headache/migraine and chronic neck pain. I have learned a lot along the way.

♡ To recharge I like to spend a day doing self-care related things such as taking a calming bath in dark lighting to ease my eyes or making myself 3 healthy delicious meals.

♡ My charge level is quite high at the moment after a few weeks of healing and taking time to listen to my body and and mind.

♡ My health is getting better as the days go by in some aspects but some things are getting worse. I am learning to value the good days and spend less time worrying about the bad ones.

You are doing a great job of making the most out of things, even with some days that aren't as bright as ithers.
