@AffyAvo Life in general it's always difficult with a disability. But it's what we make of it that matters. I like to be here I know things have been a little bumpy and I'm sorry for my part. However please know that I love you all.
@AffyAvo,
Do you feel connected to other people in general?
I don't feel connected to every day people around me because most of them don't face the hardships I face. That's not to say they don't face hardships because we all do but mine are more intense it feels like sometimes.
Do you feel connected to the disability here and out in the world?
Yes, I have more empathy for those who have disabilities since I can understand some of the emotions and hardships that come with it.
What would help grow or strengthen your connections?
Just being able to share what I go through on a daily basis
How are you doing this week?
@AffyAvo
I don't feel very connected to others at the moment, mostly as I have not been able to get out other than to medical appointments. While I am introverted, I have a large group of friends I spent time with on a weekly basis. COVID came, then just as things were beginning to move and shake again, my grand event came along and knocked the wind out of me, and I fell on my tail. My life changed drastically...no more job (which I loved doing). No more going out dancing, kayaking, camping, etc with friends. No more hiking with the dog, or playing soccer with my grandson. Friends are back out doing those things without me. I am happy for them, but i miss them.
I am also not very connected with my disability as I so far refuse to believe this is the best I can do.
I maybe didn't realize quite how stubborn I can be until this incident. If I had transportation to the dancing, camping, kayaking, I would find a way to do it, risks be damned. There is a car in the driveway, I have keys to, and I still have a license, but although I would bet against the risk for myself, I cannot put someone else in danger. So for me some things that would be helpful is knowing of some resources to help with rides, food, housekeeping ...how to communicate my needs effectively to my helpers, how to stay understanding and respectful of my caregivers needs and concerns.
@adaptableOcean4193 Those sudden changes in capabilities can be really tough adjustments!
I understand what you mean about risks. I hope you can find a way to join in again soon with some reasonable risks 😊
@AffyAvo
I am glad for me that you understand, but sorry you do, because it probably means you have been there or are there yourself. I pray that is behind you now and you are well on your way to any recovery you might be needing or have needed, Big hugs to you!
I just hope any person with a disability get what they need and pay for. The Lord will always be with them there always someone willing to help.
@optimisticHuman5133, ❤️
