I thought this was a great metaphor for what people with disabilities often have to do - adjust things and reflect to see if it's working - as often the world doesn't simply accomodate for our needs.

What type of adjustments have you found work well for you? Having no laptop having to use an ipad isnt easy but helps to keep some sort of activity around here or on my games to show i just havent disappeared
How are things going this week? What are you happy about or succeeding with? Still feeling soso broken laptop and cost isnt that great but at least im having it repaired
What things are giving you a rough time? The above post explains this yesterday was a rough day for me too everywhere i looked was mothers day and i lost my mum feb 20th 2 years ago luckily my ipad was charged enough to binge nextflix to relax
@CaringBrit Ugh to not having a laptop for a while! I'm frustrated enough with being stuck with an old one as I've made 3 attempts with new (one the screen was just horrible so I returned it ASAP, one was out of stock and never shipped, one after a few months of troubleshooting it was determined to be a hardware problem so was returned). Fingers crossed on my 4th just working well and your repairs going smoothly!

@AffyAvo fingers crossed i get paid friday so im able to get bk that day that way will only be 4 more days
I have a few techie tricks up my sleeve to manage my hearing impairment. The newest is my captioned phone, which it took 2 Engineers, 2 I.T. people, and 2 HR people to hook up. I had to be persistent and escalate it to HR in order to get the accomodation. I work for a governmental agency, so it's important they comply to the ADA. But Friday, another employee said how glad he was that I was working there, because it helps him understand the challenges I have. It made ME realize that I've been nervous about reaching out to the Blind Community because of my awkward and intrusive questions...but how maybe they felt more like I did -- appreciate somebody taking the time to understand what they/we go through.

Sounds like it took a bit of advocating to get it, but technology certainly can help!
I think you're right about most people wanting to be understood. I think in general as long as questions aren't intrusive but more along the lines of what can I do/a company do to make your life easier, most people are pretty open. Some may then encourage more personal question as well. I hope you can make some good connections!
