Weekly Check-In May 15 - 21
I feel like May is flying by, we're half way through the month already!
How are things going for you?
I had a really rough evening, I think due to weather changes. I wish I could have just slept through it, but I woke up feeling too sick to sleep, just as pain can interrupt sleep. I really wish we had more words to describe various ways of feeling sick. There are so many descriptive words for pain and I find it isolating in some ways that some other symptoms don't have such words. Malaise includes too much and it makes it difficult to find people who relate without the words. The lack of language also makes it feel like others don't experience these frequently enough.
Bit of a ramble about that. Good news is the storm is over, I got through it and I'm starting to feel better. Was really glad to have my husband by my side, it makes it easier to deal with the tough times.
@AffyAvo
I'm sorry to hear that you were experiencing such a rough evening. I agree that it can get really tough at times and often the words are just missing to describe it. I'm glad that it is over now and you are starting to feel better, and that having someone by your side can make things easier.

@Mellietronx So happy to see you have found something that brings you happines! Hope it is all going well.
My mom is still reluctant in returning most of my Wii/Gamecube games I've played since I was little; and for the longest time they have helped me get through tough times (bullying in school, depression). Hell, I've played them to keep me occupied when I had nothing else to do, but my time with them was even more restrained cos of my mom's "take a break" policy and privacy invasion thru a camera in my room. Once I left her, she never returned them cos she refuses to acknowledge they were gifts for me from birthdays and Christmas; other times as rewards.
Also tells me she is a "flawless" parent, which technically is a huge kick in the face, and keeping gifts away from her child who uses them to relieve stress is also a punch in the stomach. A parent calling themselves "flawless" hurts their disabled kids...A lot. Don't they realize they have feelings? Besides, I can't afford second copies of my treasured games; why can't she return MY games and buy HERSELF second copies?? They're not as expensive now as they were when they were released years ago. >_> Let them sit for ages and not the ones that I kept alive for so long for the sake of keeping myself occupied and stress-free?
Video games HAVE been useful for people with disabilties to relieve themselves, educational or not. My mom in my part is basically WANTING me to keep my stress levels alive if it isn't me drawing/taking photos. BTW, I don't spend 5-10 hrs playing vidgames a day; just 3 hr at max. I still have my handheld games, but I'm mostly playing console games since I like to keep my eyes farther from the screen too.
@Pikashuppet
I'm sorry to hear that you mom won't return your video games. Especially since they are a way to relieve stress for you. Do you feel like the handheld devices are still helping you cope?
@Moosewithducks They do, but I like keeping my eyes slightly farther from the screen to avoid straining.
@AffyAvo Up and down. I had a few rough days, but I am holding on.
